To a lesser extent, in the military as well. However, in my military experiences, in a non-combat situation, blacks do revert somewhat back to their native DNA. Quite often they are given support positions, rather than the combat arms, so their ability to “slack off” and discriminate against us whites is much greater. The only two situations where blacks are required to perform the same as whites is in boot camp and in a real combat situation. When one’s life is on the line and one has to depend on the next man, cooperation becomes a life-and-death situation.
However, today’s military has become so “woke” with the so-called “civil-rights (for some)” preferences for blacks that many officers are reluctant to charge blacks for offenses committed against whites and others.
In 1969, at Camp Pendleton, our NCOs discreetly warned us whites to walk in groups to and from the enlisted clubs as even then, blacks were known to cause trouble.

Not true. In 2005, the White Sox won the World Series without a starting black or Latino. There were only a few non-Whites on the team. Let’s assume 75 murders of LEOs last year and 1M officers. That gives us a 7.5 per 100,000 murder rate, not all that much higher than the general US rate of 5.3.

In terms of job danger, LEO is somewhere around 15th in this country.

German and UK officers manage to kill their people at a MUCH lower rate than in the US. This is a crime and a shame and should be viewed as such by all Americans.

A major reason for this, IMO, is that guns are so widespread in America. In UK or Germany a cop does not routinely assume a guy making a sudden move is going for a gun. Here a cop HAS to assume this, and react accordingly. Which by definition will ensure a significant number of shootings of “unarmed” men.

I suspect even the case of the fleeing suspect in Charleston will go that way, when all the facts are in. BLM pushed Michael Brown when Tamir Rice was emblematic of a problem, and Michael Brown/Ferguson was clearly not (Well, except: the City of Ferguson derived 25% of its revenue from police fines. The idea that training will fix this sends the wrong message, especially for people who care about the right to self defense.
We can agree: draw a gun on a police officer, he has the right to shoot you in self defense. Draw a gun on a private citizen, he has the right to shoot you in self-defense, except if you are a police officer carrying out your lawful duties. If you hold a vaping device as if it’s a gun and hold a shooter’s stance towards police, then when he shoots you it’s not self defense, but the shooting is justified.

If grand juries and juries keep on finding the vast majority of police shootings as justified, well then they are.

So, basically, a ratio that in Mexico, a known placid country (not!) is considered excessive would be a dramatic improvement in the USA.

The fact that American police kill many more suspects than their counterparts elsewhere is only the first step. It could signal something is wrong, or it could be a mirage that conceals something else. When you look closer, you find out that when these specific incidents are analyzed by third parties, they are usually deemed justified.
I would guess that a lot of them are justified, and I would guess that most do not result in prosecution. I wouldn’t vote to prosecute most of them. The question remains: could the police have maintained order, their chief function, without result to lethal violence? Police in other countries seem able to do this while killing fewer citizens. Is there anything we can learn from them to maintain order while lowering the kill ratio?

Did we need to shoot over 500 knife-wielding people over the last 10 years, while the English have shot 1? You’re called on to defend that particular item; saying they were “justified” calls into question whether, for example, a civilian who did the same (with concomitantly less training than an officer of the law, of course) would also be considered justified.

The best examples of this come from BLM and our horrible MSM. Most of the cases that the anti-cop crowd have latched onto have turned out to be bullocks. Michael Brown is one of the easiest examples, but many other cases turned out the same way.

You seem to have a one track mind. Which is fine in this case, because the way you are presenting the argument is good rhetoric. I do not find it convincing however. Very few police shootings are questionable. Some certainly are, and may even be named in this thread, but the vast majority of police shootings are found to be justified. The idea that training will fix this sends the wrong message, especially for people who care about the right to self defense. If grand juries and juries keep on finding the vast majority of police shootings as justified, well then they are.

Pointing to other countries does nothing to change this. Police in America have uniquely hard jobs. In fact, in general can’t directly compare what a policeman’s job is in America to a policeman’s job in Europe. And again, policemen in America are both better armed and better protected than their counterparts elsewhere.

The fact that American police kill many more suspects than their counterparts elsewhere is only the first step. It could signal something is wrong, or it could be a mirage that conceals something else. When you look closer, you find out that when these specific incidents are analyzed by third parties, they are usually deemed justified. The best examples of this come from BLM and our horrible MSM. Most of the cases that the anti-cop crowd have latched onto have turned out to be bullocks. Michael Brown is one of the easiest examples, but many other cases turned out the same way. If US police were so horrible, it not only would be much easier to find examples, but it should be possible to find aggregate data directly showing US police are out of control. I will leave with two questions: What proportion of police shootings are unjustified? How do you know?

There training is just one part of the blame. My understanding is large groups of police are trained by ex-Israeli police. In essence they’re training the police to treat us as Palestinians. They’re also training them to fire at people immediately.

Firearms obviously can project lethal force from greater distances (as I stated clearly). The point is that if you are killed by a knife or killed by a gun, you are equally dead. Being dead has no degrees to it, its strictly zero sum binary state. You cannot be ‘more’ killed by something; you only can be killed period. So an object that is designed to efficiently kill at close distances, and another object designed to kill efficiently at greater distances, will both produce the same lethal results within their respective effective ranges; and that result is death (providing a lethal wound was delivered).

What you are mixing up is the concept of the ability to cause death, with the effective range of a particular weapon. Both a gun and a knife are able to cause massive wound trauma, but a gun has a longer effective range. Its not the lethality that is different (Lethal being defined in the dictionary as ‘causing or able to cause death’), its the distance of effectiveness that is different.

The other advantage of a gun vs knife is that it is a equalizer in that a smaller person can use it effectively against a larger stronger opponent, and it is easier to deploy against multiple assailents. But if you had a choice between getting killed by a gun or a knife, what difference does it make (although a knife could get a lot messier)? If you do not believe me, go to any inner city trauma center and see how many victims were killed by knives (as well as guns). Guns get all the lib MSM attention because they want to promote their anti gun rhetoric.

This for a country about 1/11th the size of the USA, so scaling up gives us about 27 murders of police officers per year. Your link to the Atlantic tells us that in 2013, there were 32 USA police deaths by firearms and in 2014, 50. Clearly the homicide rate for police in the USA is worse than Canada. (I’m ignoring the large number of police traffic deaths, which I attribute to accidents, not intentional murder; the Canadians left out unintentional deaths.)

I am not convinced. Police in America have much more dangerous jobs. A simple way to test out whether or not the data you site is meaningful is to look at how many American cops are killed compared to the same countries. I think we all know what you will find. This is incredible when you consider that nearly every US police officer has a bullet proof vest, carries a gun, and most has access to long guns. Actually, you made a good point. The majority of police don’t have exalted ranks but some of the chiefs like to wear the stars of a four-star general. That’s indeed an exalted ranks. Army two-stars command infantry divisions of 15,000 troops give or take. Most police departments are tiny compared to that.

In fact, a person with enough training can throw just about any hard object with enough force to inflict damage to the recipient. I used LSD, and sometimes, injectable ketamine, in the tank to produce a depth and quality of consciousness that few people have ever experienced. While in those altered states of consciousness, I would then use deep self-hypnosis to change my behaviors…to disrupt and remove old, unhelpful behaviors, and install brand new, state-of-the-art behaviors in their place. After installing all new behaviors, I decided terminate those experiments, and try something new. In 1992 I built a Binaural-beat frequency generator from some plans I found in a magazine, and added it to my tank. The BBFG enabled me to entrain my brainwaves to a frequency in parity with the deepest level of Delta waves, about .5 hertz, and remain fully conscious throughout the entire experience.
