Sanskrit is basically an artificial perfected language which lower castes and even upper caste women were prohibited from speaking in the past. If women in your family could not speak the language, how could it function as a natural language? You cannot use it to speak to your wife. Prakrit comes from the term “Prakriti” (translated as nature) and thus means “Natural Speech”. Pali (Buddha) was just a dialect of Prakrit. Sanskrit comes from the term “Sanskar” (translated as culture) and thus means “Cultured speech”. Like Hebrew and Aramaic maybe. But even then, Emperor Ashoka did not find the “Cultured speech” Sanskrit of the snobby Brahmins important enough to have it included in his rock carvings!!!

I got to a point very quickly in studying Hindi that I realized English is probably an inferior language in comparison.

BTW just to make sure, I still admire many things about Christianity and Islam. Both have many positive things in it, things which the Zios hate. There is a lot of wisdom about many things in Islam and Christian morality within sensible limits is very positive for a society. Both have inspired great art and philosophy. Even Orthodox Judaism has a lot of wisdom of things (mostly reserved for Jews) of life. Say things like marriage etc…

I can read Devnagari but I’m slow. I can read Hindi in Nagari but it is difficult when your vocabulary is 2,000 words or so. I’d say I’m 6-9 months away from being reasonable fluent in Hindi. I got to a point very quickly in studying Hindi that I realized English is probably an inferior language in comparison. The use of first and second order verbs is pretty amazing to me.

The whole issue of syllabaries is pretty brutal in India. How do you change? If you change you cut people off from the past. If you don’t you maintain divisions.
