Just how much respect do we owe to law? Is it possible to respect the law too much?

Mexican immigrants to the US display an attitude to the law markedly different to that of white Americans. They are indifferent to it. When I first visited the U.K. and Britain 40 years ago, I was enthralled with it. Back then, it had a interesting culture and sites that were uniquely British, Irish, and Scottish, and people who were quite different from Americans. Britain, Ireland, and Scottland now exist only in it museums. Tourists flood these museums to see the old U.K., not the hideous modern U.K.
