I've only see that photo of Merkel in her apartchiki uniform. I am aware of her father's amazing freedom of movement and do not think there's any mystery why he had that.

I argued for the parallel existence of decency despite highly authoritarian government. Even people serving in authoritarian governments are not perverted but it. A German soldier's account of his service told how his seargeant order his squad to take some Italian partisans into the woods and shoot them. They were just kids and the author said he and his comrades fired a few shots into the ground and told the kids to scram.

Merkel strikes me as someone afflicted with an unseemly devotion to the DDR, not just someone who wanted what advantages government service provided. What I read about her post-1991 career suggested that it was dangerous to be a mentor to her. One or two mentors ended up being sideline if memory serves me. I can't source any of that but she did seem to have the skids greased for her in her progress in the W. German government.

Btw, a pleasant book about decent Germans not fitting the stereotyple of SS brute is "Berlin Diaries 1940-1945" by Marie Vassiltchikov. The book I referred to about a timber operation in Stalinist Russia is "Bitter Waters: Life And Work In Stalin's Russia" by Gennady Andreev-khomiakov.

Undeniably what you wrote is true. I don't know about 19th Century Romanticism, if it was that important toward this construct. It seemed an artistically focused movement. Jung's Analytic Psychology is very structured, while the 19th Century Romanticism distanced itself from this German obsession. The 1960s had similarity.

I believe the greatest influence on Jung was The Buddha and his teachings. His ideas of the Collective Consciousness can not be linked to previous or his contemporary epoch. Schopenhauer proclaimed his acceptance of Buddhism, as well as immersing himself in His teachings. This had a profound effect on Richard Wagner, who was struggling with the maimed and dysfunctional Christian religions of his epoch. He saw, I believe, the limitations on the reflexive worship of the pagan gods of the the Northern People.

As I am a Buddhist, a follower and acceptor, the many derivatives and similarities between Jung and Buddha are obvious. One other individual you did not mention was Hermann Hesse. If you had been reading my comments, I have shown the profound effect that Schopenhauer had upon Wagner, and likewise upon Schopenhauer. I had spent much time in the Orient, from high school on, two years in Hawaii, one year at the U of H, Manoa, and spent considerable time at its East-West Cultural Center. My professional life included many trips to the Orient, as well as most of the World.

You, like most Western intellectuals, you seem to have a void where Eastern Religions and Thought are concerned. This self-centered, anti-heuristic, and exclusion even by the Common Man has great negative consequences for the West, and has to be factored in its constant decline and degradation, like the half life of a radioactive material. This self imposed filter and prism is very stupid, and maintained for control and manipulation of the masses, by limiting their contact and Consciousness of other ways of perception and thinking.

For those reading this exchange, a definition is in order:

Individuation is the process of becoming a distinct, independent person with a unique identity. It's a psychological concept that involves developing a sense of self, purpose, and self-awareness.

    Explanation

The term was popularized by Carl Jung, a psychoanalyst who believed it was a central part of human development.

Jung believed that individuation was a process of self-realization, where people discover their purpose and meaning in life.
It's a lifelong process that involves making choices that make you who you are.
Individuation involves integrating elements of the conscious and unconscious mind.
It's a process of synthesizing opposites, such as conscious and unconscious, personal and collective, and life and death.

    Challenges

People who don't fully individuate may struggle with feelings of anxiety, depression, and a lack of boundaries.
They may also feel dependent on others and have difficulty moving forward in life.

    Activities that can help

Active imagination, such as holding an image from a dream and asking it questions.

Analysis, which can be seen as a form of individuation.

    https://www.hasegawaryo.com/wagners-journey-with-buddhism-to-the-present

Jung, in his pre-war and post-war writings, offers more total insight into Germany's Collective Consciousness, its deficiencies, its tragic march to the edge and over into the abyss, and the amplification of German malignancies of its milieu, and why only Germans where carried away into mass hypnosis by this pathetic creature.

Trump is tapping members of the LGBT community for top spots in his administration — despite Dem hysteria
    By Jon Levine
    Published Jan. 18, 2025, 8:16 a.m. ET

President Trump is assembling an administration stocked with prominent gay and lesbian Americans — defying hysterical Democratic rhetoric.

“When it comes to whether you’re gay or straight, black or white and all those markers others calculate — President Trump is decision blind. He bases his decision on the kind of job he knows you will do, period,” said Bill White, a top Trump fundraiser — who was tapped to serve as the US ambassador to Belgium.

    Among the picks:

Scott Bessent, 62, treasury secretary. If confirmed, the hedge fund manager would be the highest-ranking openly gay official in US history.
Ric Grenell, 58, presidential envoy for special missions. He was Trump’s director of national intelligence during his first term.
Tammy Bruce, 62, the new State Department spokesperson was a Fox News contributor.
Jacob Helberg, 35, undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment.
Bill White, 57, ambassador to Belgium.
Art Fisher, 49, ambassador to Austria.

And at least 10 other prominent LGBT Americans are slated for major administration posts, one Trump insider said.

“The velvet mafia this time around will be extensive,” he said.

Gay and lesbian officials in Trump’s first term included Randy Berry, his ambassador to Nepal, and James Abbott, who Trump tapped to serve on the Federal Labor Relations Authority.

“I sit here knowing that President Trump chose me because he believes I am the best candidate, not because of my sexual preference,” Bessent said during his confirmation hearing on Thursday. “I think it is a tribute to President Trump that he looks at people as people.”

A top gay New York City Democrat said he is pleased with the picks.

“It’s good and I hope that they will have a little influence when it comes to issues that may come up having to do with equal rights and marriage and respecting trans people’s rights,” said the Dem.

Trump’s appointments fly in face of dire warnings from Democratic LGBT activists during the 2024 race.

In January, the Philadelphia Inquirer quoted an anonymous gay man who said he was buying guns for fear of being “put in concentration camps.”

The “freedom to love who you love openly and with pride” is at stake, warned Vice President Harris.

“As horrific as the first Trump presidency was for LGBTQ+ Americans, a second term would be even worse,” said Cathryn Oakley, senior director of legal policy at the Human Rights Campaign.

Mr. Vogel, I think you're being too hard on Ms. Weidel. She's a powerful speaker and only has to contend with every scumbag politician in the entire German nation and its loathsome press. They are scared to death of her and are itching for an opportunity to crucify her and criminalize her party. Courageous hardly begins to describe that woman.

Others here have noted that she said Hitler was a socialist, not a communist. The street battles between the SA and the reds were not kabuki theater, though I have read that the two groups would meet for a brewski after an engagement. I doubt she thinks they were chums.

It's really too bad that such a fine looking woman is batting for the other team. Let me just point out she's like Roseanne Barr's TV character who said to the man attempting to chat her up at the diner, "Sir, I'll have you know I'm a married woman . . . .but I'm not a fanatic about it." She's hardly a crusader for "that stuff." So let's be like President Lincoln who, when told that Gen. Grant was an alcoholic, said let's send him a case of his favorite whiskey because that man can fight.

I don't think we should read any agenda of submission into her meeting with Musk. Yes, the US agenda is poisonous but as a practical matter Musk just happens to control a worldwide media company and talking him into lending his support to the AfD would be a great benefit to it and her.

    Great article nonetheless. Thanks.

"...The political right in America did not want to join the war ... or the side of Stalin..."

Pure rubbish! The USA shipped millions upon millions of tons of food, weaponry, whole factories, 400,000 trucks, US dollar printing plates etc. to the Soviet Union.

The Roosevelt administration had a burr up its ass about Germany. in all likelihood because it was overwhelmingly staffed by Jews and communists. Recall that in 1933 already "Judea Declares War on Germany".

The reason? Germany managed to untie itself from the Jewish international banker's cabal. The result was that the German economy recovered very quickly while the US was still in the depths of the Great Depression. Methinks there is a moral herein.

    Replies: @Mark G.

The Roosevelt administration shipped food, weaponry etc. to Russia but the political right in this country was largely isolationist and opposed that.

The political right in this country was traditionally noninterventionist. Our first president, Washington, warned us in his Farewell Address not to become involved in European wars. It was a liberal, Wilson, who dragged us into WW I. Then liberals FDR, Truman and LBJ took us into WW II, Korea and Vietnam. Things changed when the neocons took over the Republican party. Real conservatives like Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul, though, continued to be antiwar.

Indeed it looks like Germany is not a sovereign country.
I'm wondering whether secret clauses remain in place since 1945, or the creation of the federal republic of Germany, whereby Germany would have to follow the US rule.
Also Germany remains aUS-occupied country, as Emmanuel Todd, the author of "The defeat of the West" reminds.
It was frequently said that Germany was governed by its large corporates Union; the lack of rreaction to the destruction of NordStream, and resulting destruction of affordable gaz supply, critical to a uniquely manufacturing country like Germany, would tend to show that it is not, or no longer, the case.
Corporates can re-locate their plants at great cost, but German population will remain in place, at pain, with an enormous quantity of immigrants which was only to be 'digested' with a florishing manufacturing sector.

    Replies: @HdC

The Grundgesetz, or Basic Law is the German constitution post 1945. It was another diktat by the allies with very little or no input by the German citizenry. The German government of the day had to agree with it in order to have a modicum of power to sort out the piles of rubble that was left after the incessant bombing by the USA and Britain.

This Basic Law stipulates that the findings of the Nuernberg War Crimes Trials were to be accepted as inviolate and that the state was to govern itself accordingly.

ISTR that this diktat was to be effective for a period of 97 or so years.

If I had anything to say about Germany and its internal struggles I’d pass a law that makes it illegal, with serious penalty, for anyone that harms Germany or its people. That would include anti-German propaganda and all the lies of the Ho;ocaust for which no authenticated forensic evidence has ever been furnished.

And by hook or by crook I’d obtain nuclear weaponry along with delivery systems. Then woe betide any organization that harms the German state, such as the destruction of the Nordstream pipeline.

If you want to see what is happening to Europe then watch the interview of David Frost with Oswald Mosely, he describes in the interview how Britain lost an Empire and were now just the plaything of the U.S and Russia...tossed from one to the other, Europe is at that point now.

Oswald Mosely was labelled a fascist, but that is what worked at the time that's all, Mosely was above all else a patriot and he loved his country and knew that there was a malevolent force agitating for war, who is agitating for war at this moment?

Hitler was also a patriot and people forget the good he did because of what happened during the war.

Hitler erred when he believed stealing others assets and land was the answer to Germany's overpopulation problem and once he decided on war and murder there should of being a mechanism to remove him.

Weidel was correct Hitler was on the left, not right, but should have left it at him being a socialist without throwing in communist, because that does not distinguish him from Stalin. World War II largely involved three forms of socialism: the international socialism of Stalin, the national socialism of Hitler, and the democratic socialism of FDR.

The political right in America did not want to join the war either on the side of Hitler or the side of Stalin, correctly identifying them as just two variations of the socialism they opposed. This American political right also opposed FDR, once again correctly identifying him as a third variation of the socialism they opposed.

Recall that in 1933 already “Judea Declares War on Germany”.

The reason? Germany managed to untie itself from the Jewish international banker’s cabal. The result was that the German economy recovered very quickly while the US was still in the depths of the Great Depression. Methinks there is a moral herein.

Her father was a 'living Church' (apostate) Lutheran priest who crossed from west to east.

I argued for the parallel existence of decency despite highly authoritarian government. Even people serving in authoritarian governments are not perverted but it. A German soldier’s account of his service told how his seargeant order his squad to take some Italian partisans into the woods and shoot them.

Individuation was a termed coined by Jung to describe the most important theme of 19th century Romanticism, which he was steeped in from the time he was a young student.

Here's a short list of some of the figures of that time who had an influence on Jung.

Kant, Goethe, Beethoven, Shcopenhauer, Caspar David Friedrich, Schelling, Schuman, ETA Hoffman, Stendhal, Byron, Wordsworth, Mill, Carlyle, Balzac, Bergson, Bastian, Hartmann, and of course Nietzsche (in spite of CJ's criticisms of FN). All of the names listed, and in so many different areas of the arts & sciences, have to do with developing and ultimately separating The Self, the social role.

Individuation is just another way of saying the same thing.

He just coined a term and offered an explantion for what was already in the culture nearly 100 years before he was even born. Speak your mind, but know your facts.

    Replies: @Richard B, @Poupon Marx

Undeniably what you wrote is true. I don’t know about 19th Century Romanticism, if it was that important toward this construct. It seemed an artistically focused movement. Jung’s Analytic Psychology is very structured, while the 19th Century Romanticism distanced itself from this German obsession.

It’s a psychological concept that involves developing a sense of self, purpose, and self-awareness.

    https://www.hasegawaryo.com/wagners-journey-with-buddhism-to-the-present

Jung, in his pre-war and post-war writings, offers more total insight into Germany’s Collective Consciousness, its deficiencies, its tragic march to the edge and over into the abyss, and the amplification of German malignancies of its milieu, and why only Germans where carried away into mass hypnosis by this pathetic creature.

I have always been heterosexual and have lived in gay towns like San Francisco, Guerneville, CA, etc. I live and let live. The gays I have known have been settled, monogamous, committed, and extremely civilized, altruistic, kind, and have talent and intelligence. I've also lived in Hollywood, and have attended several parties that were predominantly gay, but I brought my woman date, and nobody cared. I have never been propositioned by a gay, except once in Hollywood, in passing on the sidewalk.

Rather than running down a decent, capable, and moral person like Alice Weibel, you should take an inward look at your tottering self-confidence in your masculinity, and why you need to strangle an outward phenomenon that is eating you up inwardly.

Both Merkel and Putin are former (?) communists. Many other figures in eastern Europe are former communists. Elections in Romania were cancelled because aledged Russian meddling. Why would aledged communists in Bruxelles have issues with meddling of Russian communists.

Czech president general Pavel is not only former communist party member, but was trained as a military spy. Robert Fico of Slovakia is also former communist. I am not sure about Tusk. Orban's father also communist.

There weren’t a lot of options for ambitious people in the communist bloc. If you had the fortitude to sit through regular party meetings and could keep your opinions to yourself you could have a better life materially.

Putin and Orban strike me as regular guys. Merkel not so much.

The author of “East of the Oder” wrote of a Red Army major who took a shine to her mother and was a perfect gentleman. A book by another gent who was released from the Gulag after a mere five years described the manager of the timber enterprise very favorably. A former girlfriend’s mother had been a major in the Red Army air force during War Two as Philomena Cunk would say. She was a sweetheart.

Merkel or as I prefer Merkhin (look it up) was really high up in the SED, she and her agents have cleansed the Internet of such, but you would find her sharing podium positions with the top leadership.

Her father was a 'living Church' (apostate) Lutheran priest who crossed from west to east.

That isn't bad in itself, if I had been a teen or early twenties in that place and time, may also have decided to cross to the east. In Japan, many of Korean descent chose return to north Korea.

Merkel seems to have been singularly evil.

However much Merkhin and her agents destroy information about her on the Internet, people (like me, others posting here, others, too) have seen the information, Merkhin sitting among the very top of the SED in the DDR.

I doubt that they would have supported the degree of destruction that she has wrought, but that is what it is.

Things keep disappearing from the 'net all the time. I post an old song from a German band, but it doesn't suit the band, I'm pretty sure that I posted a link to a live performance of the same song two or three years ago, would guess that it is a dead link now.

Save anything that seems as if it may be whitewashed (like Merkhin's political history) or be judged 'not PC', as is the case with the song below, only over a still, but to the point if you understand any German.

I’m wondering whether secret clauses remain in place since 1945, or the creation of the federal republic of Germany, whereby Germany would have to follow the US rule.
Also Germany remains aUS-occupied country, as Emmanuel Todd, the author of “The defeat of the West” reminds.
It was frequently said that Germany was governed by its large corporates Union; the lack of rreaction to the destruction of NordStream, and resulting destruction of affordable gaz supply, critical to a uniquely manufacturing country like Germany, would tend to show that it is not, or no longer, the case.

If I had anything to say about Germany and its internal struggles I'd pass a law that makes it illegal, with serious penalty, for anyone that harms Germany or its people. That would include anti-German propaganda and all the lies of the Ho;ocaust for which no authenticated forensic evidence has ever been furnished.

And by hook or by crook I'd obtain nuclear weaponry along with delivery systems. Then woe betide any organization that harms the German state, such as the destruction of the Nordstream pipeline.

Yes. In Reality, there is much more commonality between Communism and Fascism than difference. Both oppress individualilty, in terms of expression, dissent, and the pursuit of what C. G. Jung termed the process of Individuation.*

*Individuation is the process of becoming a distinct, independent person with a unique identity. It's a psychological concept that involves developing a sense of self, purpose, and self-awareness.
    Explanation

The term was created by Carl Jung, a psychoanalyst believed it was a central part of human development.

Both exert total control from above, an Elite, and brook no deviation from "doctrine" and official beliefs and ideals. Both are soul crushing. Whether the individual "owns" property but is totally directed by the Government or the State owns it, is of little relevance. Fascism depends upon the good will of a small number of permanent rulers or authoritarians. The owners of capital or businesses end up in an incestuous relationship as we see today as Corporate-State Fascism, where the Corporation kneels in supplication to the Government and the revolving door is always spinning.

Thus, as Alice Weidel has said Hitler was a Communist Socialist. Words are imprecise, but this is overwhelmingly valid and veritas. Alice has said that AfD is a Libertarian-Conservative Party.

For all you lazy slobs and schmucks out there who thoughtlessly scribble drivel, just read the AfD Manifesto, and watch the videos I posted.

Jung, in his pre-war and post-war writings, offers more total insight into Germany's Collective Consciousness, its deficiencies, its tragic march to the edge and over into the abyss, and the amplification of German malignancies of its milieu, and why only Germans where carried away into mass hypnosis by this pathetic creature.

how many recall the number of countries that rejected the eu via "voting" sometimes multiple times. spain, france, chekia, ireland, italy, etc all rejected the eu.

    From cafruney & ryner:

"We do not think that one has said everything that is important about actors when one has labeled them “neoliberal.”

Rather, in our view social forces, state managers, supranational entrepreneurs, and other actors embrace, tactically adjust themselves toward, or resist neoliberalism from the vantage points of different, and often competing, material positions and interests.

Above all, we do not suggest that the neoliberal European project is a conspiracy--a fully thought out blueprint immanently implemented,
and globally mastered, by its agents.

We rather subscribe to a more structural point of view, in which neoliberalism describes an “institutional materiality”--a set of intersubjective norms and rules to which actors have to orient themselves or, for that matter, a “logic of appropriateness”.

These norms and rules, in turn, reflect a structural matrix of institutions that define the formal separation of politics and economics in the prevailing regulatory mode of capitalist development.

Especially important in this context has been the organization of finance, which systematically favors the United States.

It is in this sense that the United States remains hegemonic, albeit not without a growing list of challengers.

This is a position that we amplify [and] our analytical focus on [the] EMU reflects the centrality of money and finance in transatlantic and European regional power relations.

In a classic formulation, David Calleo has highlighted the importance of money for social and political relations in general:

“International economic relations are highly politicized. This is particularly true of monetary relations,
the history of which often serves as a metaphor for general politico-economic relations in the world system”.

Similarly, drawing on Georg Simmel and Niklas Luhmann, Claus Offe (1985) has emphasized the importance of money and finance as central “steering media” through which capitalist states perform their contradictory roles of rendering compatible economic dynamism, social legitimation, and internal operational cohesion.

The EMU, then, can be seen as constituting the institutional fulcrum of the neoliberal integrationist project.

Nevertheless, the scope of this book goes well beyond the question of money and monetary union.

From our chosen analytical vantage point, we offer a holistic analysis of the interconnections of socioeconomic dynamics, the welfare state, questions of legitimacy and citizenship, and Europe’s geopolitical predicament.

Hegemony cannot be reduced to “institutional copying.”

To assert that the EU is pursuing a neoliberal project does not imply that either the EU itself or its individual nation-states can entirely abandon distinctive institutions or values that have been shaped by centuries of historical experience.

Europe will never become “Americanized” or even “Anglicized” in this sense.

Rather, hegemony means that norms and rules successfully represent certain particular interests as general interests."

You must explain how a same sex partnered person cannot, by some mysterious ether or imperceptible steel-like cable is automatically and inevitably prevented from endorsing traditional marriage and raising of children. Vladimir Putin would certainly condemn your opinion, which is so shallow and reflexive that my elucidation here is a burden of my time, but done out of altruism or the wish that other weak-minded souls would consider such nonsense as worthy outside of a trash bin.

Logically and syllogistically, your assertion is a fish out of water, a priori and prima facie. Alice Weibel had a father and mother, relatives who were normative and traditional. Thumb nail biography:

Weidel is the first openly gay woman to lead a political party that opposes same-sex marriage. [9] Weidel herself is in a registered same-sex union, in which she raises two children with her partner.
Weidel is an opponent of discussing a person's sexuality before coming of age: "I don't want anyone with their gender idiocy or lessons in early sexualization to come close to my children"[10]. She also expressed her opposition to the legalization of same-sex marriage, saying that she supports the protection of the "traditional family" and at the same time supports "other lifestyles"[10] She said that she supports civil partnerships for gay couples, noting that she is in one herself.[6]

From the shady side of 70s, and 34 years as an marine engineer executive, many times working on critical projects under great duress, I have worked with a few lesbians, in a physically demanding, dangerous, critical, life threatening environment, where perfect execution of task was either make or break, and I simply couldn't have cared less, and never did I hear any diminution of these women from my male shipmates - who tend to be alpha males, military special forces grade of those who work in marine engine rooms and related physical plant equipment.

In "The Sand Pebbles," Jake Holman is often quoted as saying, "Machinery only cared about what a man knew and what he could do with his hands," highlighting his deep love and respect for machinery, almost treating it like a living entity he could interact with through his skill and knowledge.
    Key points about this quote:

    Character:
Jake Holman, the main protagonist in "The Sand Pebbles," is portrayed as someone with a strong connection to machinery, especially the engines on the riverboat he works on.

    Meaning:
This quote emphasizes that machinery doesn't care about your emotions or background; it only responds to your technical expertise and ability to operate it effectively.
This ends the remedial session delinating the differences from implied reality to actual reality, from true and seminal qualifications to irrelevant and barely trivial side lines and unimportant, fleeting thoughts.

You seem like deck officer material to me, where the work is less demanding and looser performance standards are the norm.

I’ve lived all over the world and have been headquartered in NYC for much of my adult life. I’ve seen it all, and if I missed anything, I’ve read about it. Every single homosexual I’ve met, every one, has been mentally damaged. Every single one isn’t all there. Like a necrophiliac, or a copropheliac, they have a mental disorder. It can be fixed, I’ve seen it happen, but it takes a religious conversion, work and leaves a lot of scars. Now some young, drunk or immature woman who has a fling, is maybe not that bad, but a sober, adult woman who goes through a sham “marriage” is showing signs of serious mental illness. She may be able to function and hold down a job, but by spitting in the face of what has been human “tradition” for 6,000 years of recorded history, means you aren’t a “traditionalist”. As I wrote, she may be better than the freaks running Germany right now, but because of her inability to deal with her mental disorder, she shouldn’t be trusted around sharp objects. There’s a reason great grandpa had laws against such behavior. It wasn’t because he was mean, it was because he was smart. Much smarter than the current crop.

I don't believe your outline biography. You profile as some Fundamentalist Zion Church in San Antonio, Arkansas, or some backwoods Bible Thumping dump. If you knew any history, you would realize that many great, important contributors to civilization have been of "gay" or had same sex partners. And were quite happy, and accepted.

Can someone *please* tell Alice Weidel that one does not salute without wearing a cap or hat unless one wants to look like a damned fool.
The military salute, of course, is a relict from olden days in which, as an act of respect, deference and politeness, a man would habitually doff his hat to the recipient of this deference. As a shorthand, this became transmuted into a ritualised touching of the hat, hence the military salute.
That great big damned fool, and monumental doofus, Ronald Reagan seemed to have pioneered the bare headed military salute. “The overload of the compensatory mechanisms that worked so well in the 1970s and 1980s can be captured by what Streeck and Trampusch (2005) call a

    “vicious circle of positive feedback”

between high nonwage labor costs and unemployment.

The high nonwage labor costs make German labor more expensive, and German workers must demand higher gross wages in order to improve their disposable income.

This induces firms to shed labor and increase capital intensity, and this increases nonwage labor costs further, because the claims on the pay-asyou-go transfer systems increase further, which in turn requires higher social contribution rates.

Against this backdrop, Helmut Kohl’s government introduced a consolidation package in 1997 that amounted to “the largest cutbacks in social policy in the Federal Republic’s history” (Siegel2004).

It included retrenchment of disability pensions

and reduction of benefits and tightening of eligibility criteria for unemployment insurance,

as well as abandonment of the parity principle (equal share of the financial burden between labor and capital) in health insurance.

The last proposal represented a major departure from the German model.”

“The proposition of an emergent European economic superpower is based on a basic-force model. It asserts that the EU has reached a position of global economic leadership by virtue of its equality with the United States in terms of GDP and presence in world trade. In order for this proposition to be compelling, two corollary assumptions are required: first, for economic purposes, the EU can be viewed as a polity or at least a single actor; and, second, in the contemporary era of globalization, military power has lost much of its utility, not least because it has become decoupled from economic power.”

“In fact, the basic-force model greatly overstates the nature and extent of the decline of US hegemony. It fails to account for the ways in which Washington and Wall Street were able successfully to reconfigure US hegemony after the collapse of the Bretton Woods system on the basis of the interactive embeddedness of public, corporate, and retail financial and money markets in accordance with US welfare residualism. By contrast, the Maastricht design of EMU, fiscal pacts, and the Lisbon reform process have not established an adequate foundation for sustained European economic growth and political cohesion. Rather,
they have introduced selectively within the EU–and especially within the eurozone–institutions and practices that are incompatible with European systems of innovation and social accords and that reinforce US-led neoliberal hegemony. The result has been chronic uneven development, stagnation, and unemployment. These factors, in turn, fan the flames of nationalist populism and prevent the emergence of a genuine polity and the mobilization of a coherent EU foreign policy agency.
Those who have made their way through the preceding chapters will also be in no doubt that we are sceptical of claims that international economic relations are multipolar or chaotically organized, or that globalization has decoupled military power from international and transnational economic relations. More broadly, the distinction between political and economic power implicit in basic-force and soft-power models is analytical, and not real. Since 1945, US hegemony in Europe has been expressed through the mutual interaction of political military and economic power. The United States’ geopolitical expansion across the European continent after 1989 was itself a key factor in the consolidation of neoliberalism. Indeed, China’s rapid ascendance, the resurgence of Russian nationalism, growing instability in the Middle East, and the resource rivalries that are likely to become increasingly acute in the coming decades throw a spotlight on the continuing realities of geopolitical rivalry and the limitations of Europe’s nascent security project.”

  • @anonymous
Weidel seems rather bizarre and her belief system incoherent. Perhaps populism does have some points of contact with what Marx wrote rather than it's later incarnations with Stalin et al. However, most people aren't going to understand that so it's best to skip it. A total Russian victory in Ukraine will curtail NATO expansion and aggression in Europe, giving some of the European countries a chance to loosen their leash. The US is de-industrializing Germany with its sabotage of Nord Stream and forcing them to accept millions of migrants. Many of these migrants are refugees from US created wars for Israel in Iraq and Syria and Europe is forced to be the dumping ground. Populations everywhere have gotten sick of the current regimes and are willing to grasp at straws. There'a cultural shift in the US with Trump coming in so perhaps that's the case in Europe as well. The US came into Europe in the 40's posing as liberators but were really into it for the spoils and have never left. It is long overdue for the Europeans to loosen the US grip.

how many recall the number of countries that rejected the eu via “voting” sometimes multiple times. spain, france, chekia, ireland, italy, etc all rejected the eu.

    From cafruney & ryner:

“We do not think that one has said everything that is important about actors when one has labeled them “neoliberal.”

Rather, in our view social forces, state managers, supranational entrepreneurs, and other actors embrace, tactically adjust themselves toward, or resist neoliberalism from the vantage points of different, and often competing, material positions and interests.

Above all, we do not suggest that the neoliberal European project is a conspiracy–a fully thought out blueprint immanently implemented,
and globally mastered, by its agents.

We rather subscribe to a more structural point of view, in which neoliberalism describes an “institutional materiality”–a set of intersubjective norms and rules to which actors have to orient themselves or, for that matter, a “logic of appropriateness”.

Rather, hegemony means that norms and rules successfully represent certain particular interests as general interests.”

Though having followed the machinations of the Afd for years, had never heard Weidel speak before listening to some clips of the Musk interview and was just as dumbfounded by the amount of nonsense she uttered as the author of this article..

But after looking at the entirety of her, that Party and overall current political situation, the picture at least for me got more balanced again.

    1. She is not the leader of the AfD but only 50 % of the leadership. The other co-chairman being Tino Chrupalla:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tino_Chrupalla

And this tandem-chairteam was specifically chosen in 2021 as successor of Alexander Gauland

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Gauland

    -who remained an honorary chairman!-

to give the party a more "acceptable", soft-entry public representation.

Weidel in this regard very clearly is mostly a straight out political correctness DEI figure explicitly -and very smartly- chosen to immunize the party from a great majority of all the usual cartoon-accusations and attacks from the media and officials.

In a very eloquent move once and for all all the usual cliche- attackpoints and wonder-weapons from the left were suddenly rendered moot.
Accusing a young rather attractive lesbian woman married to a Sri-Lankian immigrant to be a "Nazi","Sexist", "Extremist" ant the likes simply does not work even with the most gullible of audiences and indeed created an enormous frustration among the nations media and journalists...

And that she can`t help herself publically regularly drivelling about "bad Nazis/Adolf", "me love liberalism" and "protect Jews/Israel" is only one more involuntary plus, she perfectly embodying that front-idiot role better than anyone could have expected and of course the best thing being she actually takes herself very seriously, in contrast to large parts and perhaps most of the AfD party and their followers.

    2. The AfD really has 2 sides in my experience, the first is the current extermely polished public image/policies, necessarily almost castrated in their appearance and utterances to the point that they indeed appear to have lost their real right roots.

But then there is the other side, representing what a large part of the party could and probably would do if they were actually free to do so and not constantly threatened with legal prosecution and violence from the left.

This "old school" side is represented very clearly by its most succesfull local leader Björn Höcke:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B6rn_H%C3%B6cke

And most notably by their entire Youth-wing, the JA (Junge Alternative), which of course fittingly was prosecuted by the state and temporarily banned:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Alternative_for_Germany

But is now in the process of being incorporated again into the party.

These parts/sides of the AfD -and as said to note, that means the entire upcoming generation (age 15-35 years) really appear to be the real deal, the latter were behind last summers international media-sensation campaign of promoting the song and slogan "Ausländer raus!":

    https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/lamour-toujours-german-far-right-controversy-auslander-raus

And Björn Höcke explicitly and officially promotes to "turn Germans understanding/commemoration of their history 180 Degrees", "stop immigration and start re-migrating non-Germans", "abolish all Holocaust- Denial and Hate-Speech law" "promote 3 child-german family policies" and leave the EU and Euro (see his Wikipedia page above).

Last year he lead the AfD to win the election in the state of Thuringia by an astonishing 33% majority and the only reason why his ideals and promises so far have not been carried out is that of course All the other parties (that lost the election) so far have boycotted him from getting into any government position, against the will of the majority of the states citizens.

So, the question is really, will the AfD in the end (and in contrast to the parties of Italy`s Meloni and France`s La Pen), when they finally get into positions of power, turn full on turn-coat and compromise their original roots to the degree that it loses its soul and deceives its supporters completely, or will it after "having faked it to make it" return and be true to them...?

The Unexpected Rise of Alice Weidel in German Politics
    By
    Rocco Caldero
    December 23, 2024

Alice Weidel, co-leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), has emerged as a formidable figure in German politics. With a simple post on his platform, Elon Musk declared a couple of days ago, “Only the AfD can save Germany,” igniting a firestorm of debate as the nation prepares for its February 23, 2025, federal election.

Recent polls show Weidel surpassing Friedrich Merz of the Christian Democratic Union as the preferred chancellor candidate. This development marks a significant shift in Germany’s political landscape.

The AfD, founded in 2013, has steadily gained support over the years. The party currently polls at around 19-20% nationally, making it the second-strongest party behind the CDU/CSU union. Weidel’s personal popularity exceeds her party’s, indicating her broad appeal.

Weidel’s background sets her apart from typical conservative politicians. She holds a doctorate, speaks fluent Mandarin, and lives openly with her female partner. These qualities have helped her connect with middle-class voters and broaden the AfD’s appeal.

    etc….

Voter choice for Chancellor of Germany:

    Alice Weidel. 24%
    Fredrich Merz. 20%
    Olaf Scholz. 15%
    Robert Habeck. 14%

Alice Weidel’s personal popularity exceeds her party’s popularity.

Since you are an obvious liar, the question is, what is your motivation and aim? Assume a Hasbara Gefilthy Fish and it would fit your comment. That would be to discredit the leading and most popular figure inside and outside the AfD for a stable of nobodies who could not poll in the low single digits. Or, you are some mentally disordered ideological dumb terminal controlled by an off site mainframe. Either way you are either a low aptitude cognitive mess and inadequate human being or – my guess – another Mossad troll with the load of personality traits of common to Jewry, i.e., socio and psychopathology and Satanism. • Thank you Hans for a hard hitting and largely accurate assessment of our current geopolitical landscape. The actual absurdity of it is the best indicator that “the times they are a changin’” Alice for all her faults is a change agent, a catalyst, not a leader and will likely be replaced tout suite once it is clear that she will get no attention from Trump, who although non committal does not appreciate people of confused sexuality.

You’re right but the logical and natural integration should be with Russia, a country both in Europe and Asia and the link between China and Europe.

The divide and rule attacks by Britain and now the US against most European countries (with Germany being the first target, Russia the second and France the third) are meant to make sure western Europe won’t ally with their natural partners: Russia.

Some those components have to be modified in order for the individual to approach unity and a functional personality. Just as those missing limbs need prosthetic, or those who need medicine for metabolic disorder, whatever modification WORK to supplant or modify the ideal are obviously of utility and practicum.

Obviously, those who are less than perfect, are employable whether psychologically or physically outside the default congenital norm.

  • Though having followed the machinations of the Afd for years, had never heard Weidel speak before listening to some clips of the Musk interview and was just as dumbfounded by the amount of nonsense she uttered as the author of this article..

    -who remained an honorary chairman!-

to give the party a more “acceptable”, soft-entry public representation.

Accusing a young rather attractive lesbian woman married to a Sri-Lankian immigrant to be a “Nazi”,”Sexist”, “Extremist” ant the likes simply does not work even with the most gullible of audiences and indeed created an enormous frustration among the nations media and journalists…

And that she can`t help herself publically regularly drivelling about “bad Nazis/Adolf”, “me love liberalism” and “protect Jews/Israel” is only one more involuntary plus, she perfectly embodying that front-idiot role better than anyone could have expected and of course the best thing being she actually takes herself very seriously, in contrast to large parts and perhaps most of the AfD party and their followers.

This “old school” side is represented very clearly by its most succesfull local leader Björn Höcke:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bj%C3%B6rn_H%C3%B6cke

And most notably by their entire Youth-wing, the JA (Junge Alternative), which of course fittingly was prosecuted by the state and temporarily banned:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Alternative_for_Germany

But is now in the process of being incorporated again into the party.

These parts/sides of the AfD -and as said to note, that means the entire upcoming generation (age 15-35 years) really appear to be the real deal, the latter were behind last summers international media-sensation campaign of promoting the song and slogan “Ausländer raus!”:

    https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/lamour-toujours-german-far-right-controversy-auslander-raus

And Björn Höcke explicitly and officially promotes to “turn Germans understanding/commemoration of their history 180 Degrees”, “stop immigration and start re-migrating non-Germans”, “abolish all Holocaust- Denial and Hate-Speech law” “promote 3 child-german family policies” and leave the EU and Euro (see his Wikipedia page above).

So, the question is really, will the AfD in the end (and in contrast to the parties of Italy`s Meloni and France`s La Pen), when they finally get into positions of power, turn full on turn-coat and compromise their original roots to the degree that it loses its soul and deceives its supporters completely, or will it after “having faked it to make it” return and be true to them…?

These qualities have helped her connect with middle-class voters and broaden the AfD’s appeal.

    etc....
Voter choice for Chancellor of Germany:

    Alice Weidel. 24%
    Fredrich Merz. 20%
    Olaf Scholz. 15%
    Robert Habeck. 14%

Alice Weidel's personal popularity exceeds her party's popularity.

Either way you are either a low aptitude cognitive mess and inadequate human being or - my guess - another Mossad troll with the load of personality traits of common to Jewry, i.e., socio and psychopathology and Satanism. May you live to see and experience the Big Orange Mushroom Cloud sitting at your computer desk in Mossad Information Disruption Bureau.

I've lived all over the world and have been headquartered in NYC for much of my adult life. I've seen it all, and if I missed anything, I've read about it. Every single homosexual I've met, every one, has been mentally damaged. Every single one isn't all there. Like a necrophiliac, or a copropheliac, they have a mental disorder. It can be fixed, I've seen it happen, but it takes a religious conversion, work and leaves a lot of scars. Now some young, drunk or immature woman who has a fling, is maybe not that bad, but a sober, adult woman who goes through a sham "marriage" is showing signs of serious mental illness. She may be able to function and hold down a job, but by spitting in the face of what has been human "tradition" for 6,000 years of recorded history, means you aren't a "traditionalist". As I wrote, she may be better than the freaks running Germany right now, but because of her inability to deal with her mental disorder, she shouldn't be trusted around sharp objects. There's a reason great grandpa had laws against such behavior. It wasn't because he was mean, it was because he was smart. Much smarter than the current crop.

Germans have a pathological fear of anything branded as far right or in any way conflated with Nazism, to wit the hatred of anything called deportation, and won’t have anybody they think has Nazi or nationalistic leanings in their government, but they are quite comfortable with the fact that to this day they still have DDR communists and sympathisers sprinkled throughout their government. A revered former Chancellor is but one example.

The Communists were arguably far worse for the average German and for far longer than the Nazis, if you attribute a reasonable measure the tribulations of the last war to the Allies, but the average German is still unsettlingly confortable with Communists running the show. Can CDU/CSU pull SPD into a coalition? Signs point to "no". After the disastrous run under Scholz, SPD is likely to go into opposition. They must select new leadership & rebuild.

Would CDU/CSU+Green reach the necessary 316 seats? If not, that implies a very unstable CDU/CSU+Green+BSW pact. And, it is quite possible that the Greens would refuse to work with BSW.

The least bad option may be a minority government with no formal coalition. While theoretically possible, such an arrangement has not been tried post WW II. If votes are gathered separately for each bill, AfD and BSW could work on remigration issues behind the scenes.

There is no denying that the AfD is the best deal that Germany has among the mediocrity of all other parties. But that makes it the least bad choice.

If the leader of the AfD stood for family values, she would indeed be the best deal. In a Germany whose population is withering away, just like in most of Europe, a doze of Orbánism is a must to roll back unhinged feminism and a dangerously declining birth rate.

Weidel would be a gulp of fresh air for a German society that has been deprived of a sense of adventure and free spirit under excessive regulation and political correctness. But the way to German emancipation would still be a long way off. It all hinges on the German electorate daring to do away with the shackles of Green ideology, statism and the Holohoax guilt to reach a new start.

Minorities are small for a very good reason: they are not meant to dominate or rule.
My reply to your comment is in no way a denigration of your excellent observation and point.

Your comment is astute and intelligent. You are very right. However the fatal flaw is your word "REASON". Is there such a thing these days ? I see and experience very little. Hence the "minorities should not dominate or rule" wagon not only lost a wheel, it ran off the road and burst into flames in the ditch.

These days men chugging other men's cocks, women who are cunt lappers, sodomites, Niggers who comprise 12% of the population (most jailbirds) and Jews 1-2%, are in the catbird seat. Time will whittle them away and they will disappear but by the time that happens, in my humble opinion, the country will be a ruin.

I think that only then, faced with extinction or the continued rule by these minority freaks, will they be swept aside in the quest for survival by and of the majority. I dont think this will happen in our lifetimes. Our kids and Grands will taste this bitter fruit. As it is right now, they are in no position to enjoy what we did at their age.

A friend of mine just bought a $1.6M house, refurnished it, (his wife now dislikes French Provincial) and replaced his two high end SUVs. He was very surprised I thought him mad, completely off his rocker. He in turn thinks I am certifiable. All my important documents except passport and miscellaneous other identity cards are in a safety deposit box. Everything I own fits into a rucksack, my furniture can go to the Salvation Army or my Building Superintendent can have it.

I have lived in another country that went off the edge and a fast car filled with gasoline and a few possessions were more important than the prestige of a high end trinkets. Its an eye opener when a man realizes his bare skin is more important and a very high priority. Few in the USA have experienced their heart in their throat with their balls just below as their living environment explodes around them.

I think few people see the writing on the wall which becomes worse with every passing day. When things have evolved to the President;s inauguration being moved indoors, a thinking man ought to know enough to ask "what next ?" Add to that are people marching on DC and the press egging on the multitude.

The USA is a powder keg waiting for a spark. This is where we are because to your point all sorts of freak minorities are at the wheel, a clear violation of your wise comment. Like everything else we will reap what we sow.....and then some !

It’s a psychological concept that involves developing a sense of self, purpose, and self-awareness.
    Explanation

The term was created by Carl Jung, a psychoanalyst believed it was a central part of human development.

Jung believed that individuation was a process of self-realization, where people discover their purpose and meaning in life.
It’s a lifelong process that involves making choices that make you who you are.
Individuation involves integrating elements of the conscious and unconscious mind.
It’s a process of synthesizing opposites, such as conscious and unconscious, personal and collective, and life and death.

Both exert total control from above, an Elite, and brook no deviation from “doctrine” and official beliefs and ideals. Both are soul crushing. Whether the individual “owns” property but is totally directed by the Government or the State owns it, is of little relevance.
