まさか復旧にネットワークが必須というアホなモジュールをubuntuが採用するとは思わなかった。
いかれてるよ。
いつものようにsambaとteratermでubuntu24 LTSにアクセスして作業していたら突然の切断。
そして起動しない。

みたいなエラーメッセージが出ていて、よくわからないけどネットワークブートをしたいのか1分カウントダウンをしていた。
ただし、NICを認識していないっぽくてネットワークには出れない。
しかないので、エラーメッセージを手で描き移すという原始人みたいなことをしながらchatgpt先生に聞いてみると、どうやらsnapdが壊れてしまったみたいだ。
このSSDを別のマシンに刺してみると、パーティションは生きているmountもできる。
とりあえずtarでバックアップを取った。SSDのデータは無事らしい。
さて復旧なんだけど・・・これができないんだよな。
/var/lib/snapd/snaps/core22_1908.snap がないならコピーすればいいじゃんということでコピーを試みるも、正常に動作するubuntu24マシンにはそんなファイルはない。
同じUSBからインストールしたOSのはずなのに意味わからん。
しかたないので、chrootしてsnap refresh coreを実行することにした。

chatgptがいうにはこうやると復旧できるらしいが、失敗!

やはり、ちゃんと動く方のubuntu24には snapdはいないようだ。
パーテーションもちゃんと見えるのに、grubとかでkernelは起動しているのに、snapdとかゴミが正しく動作しないだけでOSの再インストールをしないといけなさそうだ。
余計な手間を増やすんじゃないよ。
ubuntuインストーラーのUSBをさして、nic認識させたらCtrl+F1..F6とかでインストーラーから飛び降りてmountして復旧する作戦も試してみた。
snap refresh coreを発行するとやはりエラー。
もう知らん消すと apt purge snapd とやった。
そしたら起動時のエラーは消えたけどやはり緊急モードでしか起動しない。
もういいよ。バックアップを取っているし、再インストールしよう。

When I was a little girl, from as far back as I could remember, my papa woke up at 3:30 am and drove the 40 minutes to the plant from the rural 1,200-person town every single day. And for 30 years, he worked what were often 10-12 hour shifts with no complaints.
I grew up a Navy brat, so I didn’t get to see my grandparents except for a few months during the summer, but I remember my papa exerting the last drop of his energy so he could spend time with us going to the creek, building us a tree house, riding horses, and playing cowboys and Indians.
Every evening, starting from when I was in grade school, my papa and I would sit in the living room and watch the History Channel, Animal Planet, and Bill O’Reilly and hee-haw together about what the Democrats were doing, as much as an eight-year-old can.
My papa and my nana had been together since they graduated high school; they got married at barely 18 and had my mom less than a year later and my aunt soon after that.
They had a small homestead, owned most of what they had outright, and they were poor, but poor doesn’t have to mean that much when you can work the land.
My nana worked as the local school’s secretary, and my papa had good benefits with his manufacturing job. They only ever went out to eat on special occasions. McDonald’s was a birthday-only type of affair. They had a one-acre garden, a few head of cattle, would can fruits and vegetables at the end of every summer, and freeze chopped okra, blueberries, meat from wild hogs and venison in an old chest freezer in the workshop.

なんでよ？
snapでインストールしたemacsと、aptでインストールしたemacsがある
もともとは snap版のみを使っていたが、apt install emacs-mozc をしたら、なぜか/usr/bin/emacs が呼ばれるようになって、おそらくこのemacsはaptでインストールされたものだと思う。
優先度は/usr/bin > /snap/bin なので、普通に $emacs と呼ぶと、aptのemacsが使われる。
[解決策1]
alias emacs='/snap/bin/emacs' とする。
ただし、which emacsとしたとき、/usr/bin/emacs と出るので、この設定のことを忘れたときにはまりそう。

ただ、これをしても/usr/bin/emacsが消えない。なんでだろう
ここのところ毎日ニュースになっている、イーロンマスクのTwitter買収とその後の施策について、シリコンバレーでソフトウェアエンジニアをしている俺が、Q＆Aの形で私見を述べる。
これは間違い。確かにTwitterは慢性赤字企業だったが、倒産寸前だったことは一度もない。しかし今回マスクがLBOを使ってTwitterを買収したため、Twitterにかかる借金が大量に増えた。金利だけで、次の７−８年に90億ドルもの支払いが発生するらしい。
さらに言えば、マスクはTwitterを多分時価２倍以上の価格で買ってる。これは何故かと言うと、マスクがTwitter買収にサインした時から比べて、テック企業の価格が軒並み30％〜80％減少しているからである。これがマスクが買収を中止しようと訴訟した理由の一つとされている。
大間違い。企業の経営陣はfiduciary dutyというものがあって、必ず株主の利益を最優先に考えなければいけない。だから旧経営陣はマスクを訴訟してまでTwitterの売却を進めた。はっきり言って、旧経営陣は株主の利益の観点からいえば、Twitterの最後の６ヶ月間において最高の結果を残した。
これも間違いと言える。Twitterは確かにシリコンバレーの企業の中ではワークライフバランスがよい企業と知られていて、さらにここ数年で社員数をかなり増やしたため、社員ひとりあたりの仕事量は他の企業にくらべて少なかった可能性がある。ただ、FAANG企業のなかでも、Googleなんかはあまり働かない社員がいるのは割と有名だし、Twitterだけの問題じゃない。まあ10％~20%くらいレイオフすれば他の企業と同程度の仕事量になったんじゃないかな。
借金経営を社員の責任にする言説が見受けられるが、これは完全に間違い。借金経営だったのは絶対的に前経営者（Jack Drosy, Parag, Agrawel）の責任であり、それをよしとしていた株主の責任である。さらに言えば、金利が最低基準にすえおかれてたここ１０年間は、借金をしてでも未来に投資して、企業価値を高めるのがよしとされていた。実際シリコンバレーの新興企業なんで90％が借金経営（Snap, AirBnB, DoroDash, Uber, etc)。まあ確かにここ６ヶ月くらいでかなりの企業がレイオフしてる。これは金利上昇局面においては正しい行動と言える。
もしTwitterが最低限の機能だけで、追加機能も何もしないのであれば、多分10％くらいの人員でまわると思う。ただ、Twitterは実際メディア企業だから、コンテンツモデレーション、広告の最適化、広告主とのリレーション、各国の法律遵守のためのリーガルチームなど、エンジニア意外にもかなりの人員を必要とされていたはず。エンジニアのレイオフよりも、こっちのチームが壊滅的な打撃をうけたってことの方が後々効いて来ると思う。
まず、今Twitterに残っているエンジニアは大きく分けて３種類いると思う。
はっきり言って有能無能かどうかよりも、上の３条件の方が大きいと思う。
特にH1Bでアメリカにいる場合、退職してから６０日以内に新しいところで働き始めなければアメリカを去らなければいけないので、次が決まる前に退職するのがかなりリスキー。これにあたる社員が相当数いると俺は思っている。
あと、有能なエンジニアにとってはTwitterに残る意味は全くない。オフィスに４０時間と全体で週８０時間働けとか完全にクレイジーだし、社内Slackで文句言ったら解雇とか心理的安全ゼロ。他の企業にうつればリモート４０時間で同じ給料を貰えるから残る意味がない。さらに、未公開企業になって給与体系がどうなったのか情報がないが、もし今までと据置だった場合、ベースとRSUのコンビネーションということになる。Twitterのシニアエンジニアで40万ドルくらいもらえるが、このうちベースとRSUで半々くらい。ただRSUは未公開企業なので換金手段がない。つまりマスクがTwitterを何年かしたあとにまたIPOするまで待たなければいけない。まあその時に株価１０倍になってることに賭けるってこともできるが。
ただ、実は今シリコンバレーではレイオフの波がかなりやってきて、かなりの企業が１０％程度の社員をリストラし、新規採用を絞ってる (Meta, Stripe, Lyft, Amazon, etc)。だから実はTwitterをやめたからってすぐ次が決まるとはわからない。６ヶ月前までは本当に売り手市場だったが。
dockerでubuntu:20.04でchromeDriverにchromium-browserとか入れればいいんだろ？
誰か「chromium-browser？ それなら apt-get install lsb-release libappindicator3-1 の次に

ってか、これじゃchromeDriverが動かない。chromium-browser も無いし、インスコ出来てなくない？

まあ、そうやろな。インスコしとくれ。
ターミナル「色々DLしとるが、どっかの https：//archve.略/foobar で Bad Request が返ってきたでｗ」
何やそれ・・1回くらい自動でリトライしてくれていいんやない？自分でリトライしたら通ったで。
しかしこれも動かない。
別の誰か「apt-get install default-jre いるみたいやで。ドキュメントどこにも書かれてないけど」
何やそれ？なんでJREが出てくるの。
まあJRE入れれば、確かにchromedriverの出すエラーは変わった。
「chromium-browserのプロセスが居なくなったし、クラッシュしたんじゃね？」と。
何やそれ。。。
chromium-browser --version をやってみると
ターミナル「snap install chromium でsnap版入れてくれｗ」
まあよく知らんが、やったるか。snap install chromium っと
ターミナル「あかん、http：//localhost/v2/snaps/chromium に繋げられんのやがｗ」
なんでlocalhostに繋げようとしてんの。
いまだにLinuxくんと仲良くできない。
追記。
なるほど、Ubuntu 20.04 からはsnappyに移行しとるんだと。しかしWSL2ではsystemdが動いてないんでsnapdも動いてない。だからアカン。
わいが仲良くできていないのは、LinuxくんではなくWSL2くんと言うべきなのか？
インストールするパッケージの違いについては次世代パッケージ管理システムと目されているNix(Guix)やSnappy(Snap)、Flatpakあたりが解決しようととしている
SnappyはCanonicalがUbuntuへ強く紐付けようとしているが、それへ異を唱える層がFlatpakを推しているという現状がある
SnappyのリポジトリはLinuxカーネルそのものや各種デーモン、モジュール、そしてアプリケーションなど幅広く扱うのに対し、Flatpakのリポジトリはアプリケーション専用でありSnappyをFlatpakが完全に代替できるわけではない
ちなみにNixは純関数型Linuxディストリビューションを標榜するNixOSのパッケージ管理システムとして開発されたもので利便性を得た代わりにライトユーザーお断りな物凄くクセの強いシステムとなっている
パッケージライブラリへガベコレ走らせたりシステム全体をロールバック出来たり便利なのは間違いないんだけど、それらを実行管理するのに純関数型スクリプト言語のNix言語を用いるというLinuxギークが喜ぶ仕様
