ebay Fraud reported and money returned!
This is a sad case. A while ago (last Friday), I found a used Brompton from the UK and since it was put on ebay as "Buy it now", I immediately paid for it. I was tracking it since then. It was, according to the ebay app tracking info, sent through "Royal Mail" service. Nothing happened for almost a week (a tracking number was issued) until late Friday evening (one week later, that was) when the tracking information suddenly showed a week worth of updates and said that the Brompton was delivered.

I thought that I would get a slip from the Post office telling that a package from the UK was deposited at the local post office and must be picked up within 15 days (or so?) and that I owed a hefty certain amount of import charges... or something similar.

I came home and opened the mailbox and found nothing. I carefully examined the tracking information and found that the last transport agent was Fedex. I tracked the item with the new tracking number (by Fedex) and saw that it was signed by a certain individual named "M.Laura" whose name I did not recognize. Maybe one of my neighbors, I imagined.

If that was the case, I would have a visit the next day telling me that this person had my package. I waited almost a whole day as I was home the next day.

Nothing happened. I was suspicious from the beginning when I saw the tracking information indicated the package originated in Texas, USA. It was supposed to be the UK, not USA.

Late in the evening I had no choice but report this matter to ebay. According to the ebay rules or guidelines, I must contact the seller and wait for the seller to respond within three days and then only then I should take the matter to ebay directly.

I tried to send the seller a friendly message but I could not as I was faced with an error message. Then I immediately reported to ebay, explaining the situation in a short message.

This was Friday evening and ebay responded quite swiftly. As the item (Brompton) was under "money back guarantee" protection, they decided to reimburse the money I paid.

Wow! What a swift move! I guess the seller quietly erased the account and ran away. So it turned out that the sale incident was a fraud, scam or crime.

Before I decided to pay for the item, I made sure that the item was under the ebay protection as the seller's transaction number was really low (only 2 or something). This seller did not have much credit.

Now that I know that the money is coming back, I want to keep searching for a similar item on ebay. Actually I already had one in mind but this very item went away just before I could get my hand on it.

There are a lot of good candidates on ebay but most of (if not almost all of) them are from the UK, where they (Bromptons) are made. Most sellers won't send outside the UK. And on top of it, even if I found a good (seemingly) deal, I would have to pay a hefty import charge since it comes from outside EU, where I live.

ebayの詐欺なのか、それとも何なのか
最近ebayで買い物をした。それが、先週の金曜日である。発送元が英国で、当初はロイヤルメール（英国郵便という意味だと思うが）で、トラッキング情報はちっとも更新されなかった。それは気にしてなかった。昨日（1週間経過した）金曜日の夕刻以降にまとめて更新されて、到着となった。その時は仕事先だったので、「帰宅して郵便ポストを覗くと、不在者通知が入ってるのだろう」と思った。

実際には何も無かった。最終的にはFedexが配達したことになってて、トラッキング情報ではなぜか、米国のテキサス州から発送されて、僕の住む街の"*.*****"（伏せ字にしますけど、名前が入ってる）と云う人が受け取ったとなってます。英国が発送地でも無いし、受取人の名前は近所の人かもしれないし、違うかもしれない。もし近所の人なら、待てば届けてくれるかもしれないので、今日金曜日は一日待機してたが、誰も訪ねてこない。そこで、仕方なく、ebayのシステムで問題の解決することにした。

最初は売りてに連絡し、売り手が反応するまで3日間待ってから、その後ebayに対して問題の解決を依頼せよ、と書かれてる。そこで、売りてにコンタクトしようとしたら、エラーで出て発信できない。仕方なく、その時点でebayに対して、事情を説明したメッセージを発送したのが、今日金曜日の夜です。恐らくは土曜日に返事が来るでしょう。月曜日かもしれません。待ちます。この商品にはebayが返金保証となってたので、購入した経緯があります。だから、もし商品が届かない場合は返金されます。なので、金銭的に失うものはありません。

僕はebayで売った事はないので知りませんが、どの時点で売り手に振り込みがされるのでしょうか。もうebayは売りてにお金を払ったのでしょうか。

で、ebayから返事が来ると思います。あちらはプロなので、直ぐにこの件の白黒を付けます。詐欺かもしれないし、輸送業者のFedexへの聞き込みをして、配達の真偽を調査するでしょう。もし僕が受け取ってないことが判明すれば、直ぐに返金してくれます。

返金が決まったら、次の自転車を探します。

と、書いてる間に、ebayの処理が進んで、返金処理始めます、と返答が来た。超、超速い処理だ。おそらくは売りてはアカウントを消して逃亡したと思う。だから、メッセージを送ろうとするとエラーになったのだと思う。残念ながら、ブロンプトンは消え失せた。お金は戻って来るので心配は無い。

次の自転車として、目をつけていた奴が、売却されてしまった（泣）。こちらの方ショックが大きい。なるべく関税の掛からないEU内からの中古の出品を探すつもりだ。でも圧倒的に玉が少ない。圧倒的に英国（EU外）からの出品が多いのだ。

ブロンプトンの2024年モデルのこと
今は2023年の10月だが、10月26日（木）に確かルクセンブルクで初と思われるユニクロが街の中心（まあセンターと呼ばれてるから中心と云うことだ）にオープンする。

それはともかく、今店舗に並べられてるのは2023年モデルとして、販売店が2022年の時点で発注したものだろう。販売店はもう2023年モデルの発注をしてると思う。販売開始（店舗に入荷するのはいつなのかは知らない）はもうそろそろ？。

ネットでBike24の販売状況を見たたら気づいたが、どうやら2024年モデルからC-Line Utilityが消える様子だ。3速（内装）のモデルが消えて、2速（外装）と6速（内装と外装）の2モデルになるのだろう。

友人が買うのは、2024年モデルになるかもしれない、と考えた。色を優先して色指定すると店在庫に希望色のものが無い場合は、問屋への注文となるはずだ。

僕は振り出しに戻ったブロンプトン探しをしながら、良いものを探します。
