It's the economy, stupid, and that will put the Democrats back in charge of Congress in 2026 and in the White House in 2029. We're overdue for a crash no matter who's President; it may be that Democratic insiders realize this and chose not to fraud Harris in for that reason. The short term effects of Trump's tariffs, however necessary and beneficial they may be in the long run, will make it worse. Whichever Republican runs in 2028 will be in the same position as Humphrey in 1968 and McCain in 2008--doomed to lose because of what happened when his predecessor was in charge.

And on January 21, 2029, every one of Trump's executive orders will be cancelled.

Replies: @Blanc de Chine, @Patrick McNally

One thing which may shift the balance is that Trump’s 2nd term is separated from his first by Biden’s term. In 1968, the Democrats had been in the White House for 2 terms. In 2008, it was the Republicans. Since Trump hasn’t had a straight 2 terms in office, he may be able to shift blame onto Biden.

I believe that Wilson was speaking here, in1913, specifically of industrial cartels. Congress addressed Wilson's concern as far as I know by passing the Clayton Antitrust Act the next year.

[T]ariffs … would do as much harm to the U.S. economy (particularly in the border states) as it would to the Canadian economy.

I doubt it; yet, for the United States, a greater danger looms.

As matters stand, the United States is outclassed by China. A prospective North American union of Canadian and American industrial capital, human capital and natural resources would leave the union in a position to withstand. Whether such a union would serve Canada's interests is for Canadians to judge, but for the United States the union is a matter of vital interest.

Unfortunately for Canadian patriots, such a union has for the United States been a matter of interest since George Washington's day.

    Replies: @werpor

Industrial cartels fund their monopolies by borrowing from banks. Bankers decide how to lend. Strategic lending is the way in which monopolies i.e. industrial cartels, are created.

Borrowers in some instances have had the nasty experience of having their loans called. Of course borrowed money is usually invested in plant and equipment. Having done so the borrowers balance sheet can appear to be a problem. Of course it takes more than a year or even two or three before the balance sheet reflects the capital investment.

In the mean time it can be argued the company is weak and overextended and argued also that the business has far too many receivables. Of course a growing business would.

If a bank calls a note the company is threatened with bankruptcy.

The banker may offer a solution. Say, it so happens that one of our other clients may be interested in helping out with an investment. Of course he may want a seat on the board. In fact he may offer to buy the business, if you know what I mean!

“If you know what I mean†is left unspoken. It is no doubt implied.

I suppose even a country like Canada can be squeezed. Policies can manifest which degrades a countries balance sheet. Canada had a Prime Minister who appears to have negatively affected Canada’s balance sheet. Canada now has another Globalist “managerâ€, Mark Carney.

A country can be subverted as easily as a private corporation can be subverted. In fact the same tactics can obtain if traitors are in seats of power.

Reference Ukraine: Zelensky has engineered the sale of hundreds of square miles of farmland to Monsanto, and BlackRock. And cleverly he encouraged and coerced and drafted millions of conscripts to fight the Russians. The dead were betrayed.

The U.S. taking over Canada will probably not be violent. If the metrics get any worse and they will — ever so slowly mind — Canadians will simply albeit reluctantly, acquiesce.

The U.S. is a proxy for Jewish power. During the past 10 years Justin Trudeau betrayed Canada. Mark Carney is a Globalist banker. He is just the man to finish the job. We will see.

    Is it inevitable?

Readers on Unz are probably mostly Americans but the following may be of interest to explain some of President Trump’s behaviour. I believe the world’s leaders are puppets.

A couple of days ago here’s on Unz, I quoted a former president of the United States:

“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.â€
    Woodrow Wilson

What to make of such a comment? He wrote that more than Century ago. His published remark suggests that being president was not something which turned out as he expected. He was a progressive in pursuit of the common good. The common good was betrayed during his presidency. It appears he was betrayed. It seems as though he betrayed himself.

My guess is something similar has been going on for a long time. In the case of Trump his handlers appear no less malevolent now than they were when Wilson was president.

His handlers are Globalists and the Globalist Agenda is intentionally disruptive — or am I imagining that? This is what Klaus Schwab said he intended!

He said Justin Trudeau was his guy. I think Mark Carney is another one of his guys. Mark Carney too is an instrument of the Globalist bankers and international corporate oligarchy. After all he was Governor of the Bank of England. Exactly whom did he serve? …If not Globalist banking interests and intentions?

So President Trump appears to be stage managing a continuance of the Liberal party’s malfeasance in Canada. By threatening all manner of ridiculous tariffs on goods and services imported into the U.S. from Canada, Canadians’ are tearing their hair out. No doubt this is a Globalist strategy done to insure Canada remains a satrapy in the shadow of the United States cast by the light of Globalist interests grip on their satrapy the United States. Mark Carney is their guy. Carney has yet to be elected — yet he is the Prime Minister of Canada. Soon enough he will be seen to be the best negotiator most able to persuade Trump to drop his threats of tariffs — which would do as much harm to the U.S. economy (particularly in the border states) as it would to the Canadian economy.

Our respective economies are entwined. And much of the Canadian economy is already owned by U.S. interests. Tariffs make no sense.

They only make sense if one considers the impact in Canada of the threat. The Conservative leader appears to be tabling a nationalist agenda — one benefiting Canadians rather than benefiting the establishment in Canada whose links to the Globalist Agenda are now being revealed. The public in Canada are being bombarded with the Liberal establishments fear mongering. The Main Stream Media in Canada is almost entirely in the thrall of the Liberal party’s grip. Newspapers like the Globe and Mail have been awash with fear mongering. Mark Carney is purported to be the only person with the bonafides who can tame Mr Trumps antagonisms.

Of course it’s a fix! Canada’s elites do not want their grip on power relaxed. And most certainly neither do the Globalists want any leaders in Canada emerging to contest their nefarious intentions either.

Canada has just invested a Globalist banker as the Prime Minister. Mark Carney was at one time the Governor of the Bank of Canada after which he was Governor of the Bank of England. Canada is, or should I write was, a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy. Members of Parliament sit in the House of Commons to represent their local communities, known as electoral districts, also referred to as constituencies, or ridings.

Canadians do not vote directly for the political party, but rather for the individual candidate nor do Canadians vote directly for the Prime Minister. Canadians vote in their ridings for the individual candidate not the political party. The candidate who gets the most votes in their electoral district wins. The winning candidate in their electoral district goes to Ottawa to represent the riding in which he or she got the most votes. There they sit in the House of Commons. Usually when voters select a candidate they know which political party the candidate they vote for represents. A candidate at the riding level may be an independent and have no affiliation with a political party. Seldom do independent candidates win the majority vote in the riding they seek to represent.

Voters as a rule are wooed by party affiliation. Therefore when a Canadian votes he or she also knows who the party leader is. The party leader as a rule, runs for election, in the riding he or she hopes to represent. Sometimes the party leader is not elected in the riding (the district) where he or she runs.

Then what usually (always) happens the party leader is given a safe seat. Which is to say a candidate who won in their district is more or less unceremoniously dumped and given to the party leader — who then becomes the Prime Minister. So in practice the Prime Minister may never have been elected.

This is because the party leader is nominated by the members of the party who themselves most likely never ran in a riding and were never elected. For example the Liberal leader or the Conservative leader is nominated for leader of the party by the machinery i.e. the unelected members of that party. So before an election it is a forgone conclusion the future Prime Minister will already have been chosen.

So if that leader fails to win in his or her riding he or she gets to be Prime Minister in any event! In plain English, Canadians may be saddled with an unelected Prime Minister. Yes, true, he or she had to be elected by the party — of course there, having been vetted at a convention by the party machinery his or her policies are party policies.

It ought not go unnoticed that the power and the money of Canada’s elite run the party machinery — especially the Liberal Party. The Conservatives are no different in that they run their candidate after he or she has been vetted by the unelected members of the party machinery.

    That’s not all:

See, the guy who was Prime Minister — until he resigned after shutting down Parliament (this is called Proroguing) — Justin Trudeau, could never lead the Liberal party to win a majority of seats in the House of Commons in the election which is to be held this fall! He is a failure. Canadians hate him.

After shutting down Parliament Justin Trudeau resigned. In the mean time the Liberal party held a convention to decide who would lead the party in the upcoming election.

In the present case Mark Carney was invested as Prime Minister of Canada without ever running in a riding. The party machinery — which I already explained is run by unelected men and women whom already chose him as the parties leader at a Liberal convention — who themselves are unelected, decided for Canadians that Mark Carney is the Prime Minister.

Therefore an unelected guy, who has never ever been elected by popular vote to any political position in Canada, or to any elected role in public life whatsoever, is the Liberal party’s incumbent and the incumbent Primer Minister. Of course he will run in a ‘safe seat’ in the fall election. And if he fails to win a majority in that ‘safe seat’ — and the Liberal party fails to win a majority of seats in Parliament during the fall election he will no doubt resign.

The Liberal party though controls the media in Canada. The newspapers are dropping readers and ad revenues like leaves falling of trees in the fall but the government gifts the newspapers in Canada a direct subsidy of almost a billion dollars. The Globe and Mail is the Liberal party’s house organ.

What is the Globalist Agenda? Neither communist nor capitalist but in fact the Globalist Agenda is Totalitarian. The Globalists’ come at you from left, and right.

Clearly they are Globalists whom are running the United States. Globalists are Internationalists. At the moment Globalists are being exposed for the deceitful and conscienceless conmen they are, true. But they know no other existence than their pursuit of Global dominance.

    Mark Carney is a Globalist.

US Nuclear Submarine Begins Scouting Around Australia as AUKUS Takes Shape
The first steps towards realising the AUKUS defence pact have begun with the arrival of the USS Minnesota.

    3/17/2025

As the very first tactile steps are taken in Australia’s nuclear submarine deal with the United States, an Australian defence expert has reiterated the importance of defending the Indian Ocean against Beijing’s burgeoning might.

The U.S. submarine presence in association with the AUKUS agreement is starting to come to fruition off the coast of Western Australia (WA).

The Virginia-class USS Minnesota has been scouting out new territory during training exercise while based at WA’s naval base off the coast of Perth, where four Virginia Class submarines will be stationed from 2027 under the AUKUS trilateral defence pact.

By the middle of the year, up to 80 U.S. navy personnel will be stationed at the multi-billion-dollar HMAS Stirling base—they'll be the first of hundreds who will eventually arrive on—or off—Australia’s shores.

    Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

Uganda Police Force reports show a notable increase in deaths by mob action, with 746 deaths investigated in 2019 compared to 426 in 2013, a 75% increase.

In 2013, 70% of vigilante killings were a response to theft, robbery, or burglary, 9% a response to murder, and only 1% a response to an allegation of witchcraft.

Have you not wondered why American cities are so ruinous compared to Australian ones? If you had lived in an American city, you would know. It has to do with the tank-top-clad, aspiring rapper-basketball player whiling his day away, seated upon the nearest fire hydrant.

By the middle of the year, up to 80 U.S. navy personnel will be stationed at the multi-billion-dollar HMAS Stirling base—they’ll be the first of hundreds who will eventually arrive on—or off—Australia’s shores.

    @Looger

What to make of such a comment?

I believe that Wilson was speaking here, in1913, specifically of industrial cartels. Congress addressed Wilson’s concern as far as I know by passing the Clayton Antitrust Act the next year.

Whether such a union would serve Canada’s interests is for Canadians to judge, but for the United States the union is a matter of vital interest.

Unfortunately for Canadian patriots, such a union has for the United States been a matter of interest since George Washington’s day.

    •ï¿½Replies: @werpor
    @V. K. Ovelund

One of the original board members of the ACLU was Felix Frankfurter, whose recently released correspondence with Brandeis going back to the late 1920’s, as I recall, proves that leading Jewish intellectuals were planning this subversion for quite some time.

Up until the 1940s the Supreme Court heard only three cases directly bearing on religion, if I’m not mistaken, and held that religion was the unifying force giving rise to American civic well-being. In Frankfurter’s opinion in Millersville School District v. Gobitis, Frankfurther attacked this previously unchallenged belief on the grounds of centuries earlier secular wars categorized as religions wars by the enemies of Christianity, and claiming that religion in America, meaning only Christianity, of course, was the chief source of strife and violence despite the actual violence being inflicted on religious people and their practices.

Since the late 1940s, every Supreme Court decision has sought to elevate nationalism into a national religion by subjugating religion, meaning only Christianity, in all the cases you mention. Prof. William T. Cavanaugh, author of The Myth of Religious Violence explains this quite nicely in this talk on his book, beginning at about 40 minutes.

    Video Link
Earlier in the talk he points out that this attack on “religion,†ie, Christianity, has been so successful that most Americans now feel it is impolite to mention the name of Jesus in public. Elsewhere, when this pope is in the presence of Jews, he conceals the cross he wears. America’s Catholic bishops have their public statements on supposed anti-Semitism written for them by their Jewish masters. If Congress has its way, reading from the Gospel of John will become a crime.

Some huge percentage of US cops go to Israel at some point for “anti-terrorist” training. On the Chauvin-Floyd issue, you’ve internalized the lying Jewish narrative from the same Jewish media you ordinarily don’t seem to like very much. To those in the late 1930s who fretted about incipient totalitarianism he demonstrates that it had already well and truly arrived dressed in what we today might call the skin suit of formerly republican institutions.

    Yep.

The social security apparatus, the assignment of a number to every "citizen" (citizen slave) and thus an economic index of "in/out" over our lifetimes, is a bold admission that the governments of the west went broke sometime in the 1920s-1930s and thus had to name each of the taxpayers as a walking debt instrument whose output was to be measured and sold to international bankers.

The debts from world war one could never be repaid, and the interest payments still haunt us today despite Germany paying its unfair share off in 2008. Canada for example was paying off its ww part 1 debt, until of course ww part 2. Then in the 1960s we couldn't afford a military anymore and we had to now pay for something called "multiculturalism" and the building up of industries in CHina etc., so of course that meant deficit financing under Trudeau senior.

It's actually hard to believe, looking at the entire history of the USA, that totalitarianism actually rose up in the 1860s (Lincoln) and receded somewhat with the western expansion and the re-start of small towns all over the place that didn't have authority baked into the cakes yet.

And now it's been slowly growing since 1913 and the federal reserve act, just in time for the world war that all the west's wealth was thrown into for at least the following century.

We need a mass repudiation of these debts.

    We've paid enough.

    >Do you think that democracy in the United States can be saved, though?

Why should it be saved? -- it's what led to the current disaster -- the idea that every person of a certain age should be given a say is prima facie idiocy -- no organization I've ever been a part of operates that way.

People profess a rote attachment to democracy because they've been indoctrinated to do so -- perhaps also because many are familiar with the maxim 'power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely', and they see democracy as an antidote to that sort of corruption.

Yet most are blind to another obvious form of corruption: the reason media and political elites unctuously sanctify democracy is because it's obviously a corruptible form of government in that those who control the media control public opinion.

Previous generations could not have anticipated the advent of career politicians, the enormous influence of always-on, 24/7 mass media, nor the fact that today it appears mainstream media and government have more or less merged.

Good governance is far more important, but in a modern society I don't think you can get that via mass democracy -- certainly not in a multiracial society.

The parallels between 1944- 1956 and between the years 1967 and 2025 in the USA made my blood run cold. And I read her book shortly after it was published back in 2012!

But here all the means of disclosure had been permanently confiscated by the police.

    We did.

Stop talking about all the awful things Trump is doing. Trump isn’t doing anything besides bloviating. He is barely cogent. Then his minions tell other minions who tell others and down the pipe it comes and at the bottom WE go arrest this guy, put him in front of one of US, and do all the other dirty things we keep trying to pin on Trump.

America has become the shithole it always wanted to be. Not because some sociopathic hoarders and megalomaniacs occupy fictional “offices”, but because we put them there to excuse our own bad behavior. Trump’s just a scapegoat. A sad pathetic man with no values and no life, just like his sad, pathetic predecessor all the way back to the first George.

Why are you obeying him? Why is anyone? How pathetically sick does this nation have to be to accept a Trump (or, frankly, any of his disgusting predecessors) as a “leader”. How can a nation be “led” by a Congress with single-digit approval? How can people keep reading “media” that the vast majority agree is all lies? Why do Americans keep going off to other countries to oppress, rob, and kill people who did nothing to them? Why do they keep volunteering to don blue to oppress, rob, and kill their own friends and family?

It’s a mystery. But it has nothing to do with Donald Trump. Like Biden, I suspect that he’s barely aware of what he’s up to — the role he’s playing. And it’s a role, not a reality.

Stop whining about the government or the “1%”. Get off your ass and stop it. Tell your friends and neighbors, “That’s enough of that shit” … and back it up with action.

ACLU was the commie Jew group that desegregated the schools and destroyed our great cities. ACLU de facto legalized crime as long as the crime was committed by blacks and Hispanics. ACLU was involved on the anti White side of every affirmative action lawsuit in America

For those of you who are Christian it was ACLU that outlawed Christmas and Easter displays. It was ACLU that forced public schools to change the spring break a couple weeks before or after Easter. It was ACLU that has banned the very word Christmas from public schools and most colleges. It’s ACLU pressure that forced stores from using the word Christmas during their big buying season CCCC Chinese Crap on Credit Cards

Moving on ACLU sued on grounds of discrimination all the state laws making homosexuality a crime. ACLU legalized homosexuality. When mayor Feinstein tried to close the filthy bacteria germ filled San Francisco bathhouses where they killed each other with AIDS 4 ACLU sued to keep them open.

ACLU funded and defended in court transgender sex changes for children without parental consent lawsuits. ACLU funded and defended in court men having free access to women’s bathrooms spas and locker rooms including grade middle and high schools. ACLU pushed men and boys claiming to be women on women’s sports teams. And defended that dangerous horror show in courts of law when the women objected to being injured by men a foot or more taller weighing 100 pounds more

And for the numerous Men of Unz against abortion; Roe vs Wade was another ACLU triumph. Legalizing pornography was another effort by ACLU.

Prof. William T. Cavanaugh, author of The Myth of Religious Violence explains this quite nicely in this talk on his book, beginning at about 40 minutes.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tb1ZHlSfJk

Earlier in the talk he points out that this attack on “religion,†ie, Christianity, has been so successful that most Americans now feel it is impolite to mention the name of Jesus in public. Elsewhere, when this pope is in the presence of Jews, he conceals the cross he wears. America’s Catholic bishops have their public statements on supposed anti-Semitism written for them by their Jewish masters. If Congress has its way, reading from the Gospel of John will become a crime.

I don't know anything about Mahmoud Khalil, but I don't generally have much sympathy for Muslims in the West. When I see these pro-Palestine activists, I'm always reminded of how often they joined the Jewish coalition against whites and America by enthusiastically joining the rainbow groups and groups like Muslims and Jews Against Racism, which are all anti-American and anti-white. It's all very revealing. I'd like to see all of them destroyed.

America is no longer a real country, so why does anyone expect the people who dismantled the nation to uphold its institutions? To believe that would or can happen is naieve and stupid. The only way to restore America is to arrest the people who destroyed the nation and deport all of the people they invited here, and then strip them all of their citizenship. America will never be America again unless its traditional demographics are restored. Absent that, whining about the courts or other institutions is a waste of time.

And the terms anti-semitic, anti-semite...are all bogus, and not because Jews aren't semites, which most aren't, but because replacing Jew with semite allows Jews to avoid responsibility for their actions. Thevterm anti-semite means nothing, where anti-Jewish is very specific and appoins an actual group that one is opposed to. I guess Hitler was right about Jews not wanting to be named as Jews. • Since when and on whose authority does a political appointee to a federal judgeship, of any stripe, get to decide the most fundamental of constitutional questions about the separation of powers and decide, not law, but dictate straightforward policy directives to the President? So, now we await the Supreme Legislature, whom fools mistake for a neutral Supreme Court, to dictate policy to the President.

Chief Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes let the cat out of the bag 150 or so years ago, saying the Supreme Court doesn’t so much interpret the Constitution as it uses the Constitution to impose the will of America’s elites on the other two branches of government and people. Where in the Constitution are these district courts or Supreme Court given the authority to dictate policy to the Executive?

Because of the utter absurdity of it all and flagrant insult to common sense, I’d say we’re being played for fools by this psychodrama in which parts of the Swamp play different roles to ensure nothing gets done to end the corruption in DC. For starters and thanks to Rep. Massie, we now know Congress is a wholly owned subsidiary of AIPAC.

    Columbia 'University' states:

Today, the Columbia University Judicial Board determined findings and issued sanctions to students ranging from multi-year suspensions, temporary degree revocations, and expulsions related to the occupation of Hamilton Hall last spring.

With respect to other events taking place last spring, the UJB’s determinations recognized previously imposed disciplinary action. The return of suspended students will be overseen by Columbia’s University Life Office. Columbia is committed to enforcing the University’s Rules and Policies and improving our disciplinary processes.

These are the 48 state numbers for being considered in poverty from Perplexity:

As of 2025, the federal poverty income level (FPL) for the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia is:

$15,650 per year for an individual
$21,150 per year for a family of two
$26,650 per year for a family of three
$32,150 per year for a family of four

For each additional person in the household beyond four, add $5,500 to the annual income level

    https://www.perplexity.ai/search/when-was-the-federal-poverty-l-KNRyy_VWSm6dZSDlXV6qNg#3

These base numbers haven’t been updated in a long time. They only get COL added each year.. These numbers should probably be increased by at least $5-$10k.

Therein lies the problem with the careless rhetoric of liberals. Something so common as one’s emotions cannot be made to have legal consequences. Sooner or later someone comes along as in this case, starts claiming such feelings are in themselves terrorism and expressing said feelings is a terrorist act. And the current irresponsible members of the admin will cease upon the opportunitnity in careless administrations.

In the US a person has a constititional right to hate or feel love as they so will. They are also protected in expressing the same as longas said expression does not include some level of coercive intent, i.e acts of violence to harm or intimidate. But speech is protected as are protests.

I don’t have a hissy fit when liberals, including jewish leberal or jewish conservative blaspheme christian ethos and they do regularly. They have a right to do so. On the issue of language jews and muslims seem to abide the same plane — expressing dislike or disagreement with what they belive should be a crime.

Uhhhh no. Afraid not, that Jews hate christians that jews hate muslims, that muslims hate jews, that atheists hate all belief in the supernatural and think the entire lot should be forced to shut about a god — is not a constitutional violation.

It’s what is done with that hate that is at or should be what is at issue. Pres Trump’s admin is just using the tools created by liberals — and it is unfortunate.

One thing’s for certain: “Palestinian refugee” Mahmoud Khalil was given a free-ride education at Colombia University (how does a “refugee” get a free ride to Colombia?) over a more-qualified, genuine, white American. Khalil, a foreign Muslim, was treated better and had more taxpayer money spent on him than the average white American student.
