Tony McTony is a celebrity in the Grand Theft Auto series, appearing in Grand Theft Auto IV, a The Ballad of Gay Tony trailer, and via Bleeter in Grand Theft Auto V.
He is also mentioned in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Tony is voiced by former Rockstar Games employee Gregory Johnson.
History[]
Background[]
Tony McTony, which is assumed by all sources to be his real name, is a multi-millionaire (boasting $750,000,000 in stock options) who made his fortune in the computing industry and owns several social networking and video sharing websites. Other sources say no one actually knows how he became rich, though this is likely an exaggeration.
He was born in 1979 and grew up on the streets of Bohan, Liberty City. He was a victim of bullying during his childhood, due to him being a geek. He was a virgin before he became famous, but now can "get laid 24 hours a day". He is only 5'3" tall, and very insecure about his height.
Tony is featured in I'm Rich, Fizz! and regularly appears in stories on the celebrity news/gossip site, Our-own-reality.com throughout the events of GTA IV, so some of his details may be tabloid hyperbole rather than actual fact.
Events of Grand Theft Auto IV[]
At the age of 29, six months before Grand Theft Auto IV, he suddenly became very wealthy. He lives in one of three (or more) luxury homes - a Leftwood mansion with a helipad, a luxury mansion in Vinewood, Los Santos with a parked Shamal (a private jet) outside, and the glass penthouse of the Rand Avenue Building East in Alderney City, fitted with a glass elevator which has a glass jacuzzi inside as seen on the in-game reality TV show I'm Rich on CNT.
He hires strippers to meditate inside his home, "to remind people just how rich he really is!". He likes to get back at those who bullied him by purchasing the companies they work at, and firing them. Also, doing the same thing to everyone who worked at an amusement park when he wasn't tall enough to ride on a rollercoaster. He owns fifteen nearly-identical Infernus sports cars all monogrammed with the logo that he spent $15,000,000 developing only for his personal use. It reads "TMT" (possibly inspired by Tony Montana's logo in Scarface) and the reason he fits everything from gold rims to buildings and even his own condoms with his logo is because he believes "bitches love initials". He is also sometimes pictured with an entire fleet of Patriots, a red Cavalcade, a powerboat on the water, or a helicopter. In 2008, he was discussed on a mock television show Fizz!, in which he was shown outside Bahama Mamas stepping out of a Super Diamond followed by an entire parade of scantily-clad dancing women. Fizz! showed the subtitle "Parties in Platform Shoes", a reference to McTony's short stature.
He is said to rule his internet businesses with an iron fist - referring to the claim in a Weazel News interview, he says he keeps an actual iron fist under his pillow to "surprise chicks when they're lulled into a false sense of security". He fancies himself an entrepreneur, having recently revealed a new line of adult diapers and always travelling with a crew of "spokeswhores". In one particular outing, he attacked a waitress with his glass at a restaurant whilst on a tour with his spokeswhores for botching his salad order.
He is mentioned on our-own-reality.com several times, firstly after Actions Speak Louder than Words about planning to sue LC24 magazine because they had referred to him as Napoleonic. Another mention of McTony is on the Eugenics Incorporated website, as they list him as a high profile sperm donor. After Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend he is lambasted by his Vinewood friends for giving his seventh son "too normal a name", Pete. Later, after the end of the story, Suzie Stickleman, a stripper at The Triangle Club in Bohan, alleged he assaulted her with his iron fist.
McTony is presumably one of the world's wealthiest bachelors. One female caller on PLR's show The Seance names him as her ideal suitor because of his fortune.
Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]
In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Tony McTony is often mentioned by members of the African American gang, the Hustlers, while interacting with their drug dealers.[1] Huang Lee may also receive a message on his PDA marked as SPAM, claiming Tony McTony will give away his entire fortune in 2009, which is a scam from an unknown person under the username "Your Friend".
Events of Grand Theft Auto V[]
In Grand Theft Auto V while not seen in person, he does have a Bleeter profile and bleets about his anger regarding rumours that he has had leg implants to make himself taller. In 2013, Tavell Clinton posted on his Lifeinvader profile that he spotted Tony McTony outside the MeTV Building in Star Junction, and makes a comment about his height.
Tony McTony is also one of the featured TV celebrities on the Vinewood Walk of Fame.
ElitasTravel.com claims that Tony owns a Luxor.
Events of Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The Contract[]
Tony McTony is briefly mentioned in The Contract update in 2021 by Lamar Davis, who was desperate to find someone famous to advertise his weed business, and even trying to get his old friend Franklin Clinton, the owner of the F. Clinton and Partner agency, for any of his famous celebrity clients to promote his business on social network.
The Chop Shop[]
Jamal Amir, a member of an rich Emirati family, is known to attend the same parties as Tony McTony. According to Jamal, Tony McTony can get extremely annoying during these parties, constantly bragging about his wealthy life and his achievements. At some point, Jamal gets annoyed at McTony after he started "copying" his own lifestyle, acquiring the same vehicles he owns shortly after purchasing it and supposedly stealing Jamal's own ideas whenever he says it out loud on parties.
In 2023, after setting up a salvage yard business under the name Red's Auto Parts with the GTA Online Protagonist, Jamal receives a tip-off of a luxury car owned by Tony McTony (won at the Los Santos Car Meet), which is on Jamal's cousin Yusuf Amir's wishlist for his personal collection. He sees that as a perfect opportunity to get a revenge on McTony.
Tony McTony uses his own private Kosatka submarine, operated and manned by his security team, to transport luxury cars. With the help of the GTA Online Protagonist's intel gathering, Jamal plans the whole infiltration plan for the vehicle robbery, with the GTA Online Protagonist performing the sabotage and robbery.
Eventually, the GTA Online Protagonist successfully steals McTony's luxury car, by infiltrating his private submarine using McTony's own Avisa submersible, sabotaging the submarine's navigation systems, killing the security team and head of security inside, crashing the submarine onto a beach and escape with the luxury car on land. Subsequent robberies on McTony's submarine can be performed by the GTA Online Protagonist using the same M.O. as the first one, whenever Jamal adds another of McTony's luxury cars, with a complete different background story than the previous car, to the list.
Character[]
Influence[]
Tony McTony is mostly a parody of young internet moguls, primarily Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook or the YouTube creators (Chad Hurley and Steve Chen). McTony's antics are inspired by certain famous incidents:
- Zuckerberg handed out business cards that read "I'm CEO... Bitch" during the first year or so of Facebook's success in 2005. This likely inspired McTony's logo and "Bitches love initials" comment.
- Chad Hurley and Steve Chen are normally more modest, but once flaunted their success with a video on their own site after being bought by Google founders (fellow young billionaires and other possible influences).

Trivia[]
- His "Los Santos Crib" seen on I'm Rich uses footage from one of the mansions near Madd Dogg's Crib in Los Santos from the 3D Universe in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the reason being that the HD Universe version of Los Santos hasn't been fully developed by 2008.
- In most of his available photos in GTA IV, Tony McTony uses a Hustlers gangster model; in fact, he uses the same model used for Dwayne Forge's backup.
