Roy is a famous actor and the former owner of the defunct Lowenstein Pictures, which he founded in the 1920s. According to Anne Bimby from WNKA International Newspaper, the studio was known for family-friendly entertainment despite Mr. Lowenstein's much publicized mistreatment of his own wives and children.
A street called Roy Lowenstein Boulevard in Davis and Rancho is named after him. He also has a star dedicated to him on the Vinewood Walk of Fame.

Lowenstein serves as a spoof of Roy Lichtenstein, an American pop artist who produced well-known paintings and also directed a number of short films such as Step: Dock Water Moving and Sunset Water with Suspended Seagull, both from 1970.
