This page documents the Official Policy of the GTA Wiki.
It concerns standards that all users should follow.
The purpose of a GTA Wiki talkpage is to provide space for editors to discuss changes to its associated article.
General Rules and Guides For All Talk Pages
- Our Civility Guidelines are in full effect.
- Start a new section with an appropriate level headline for each new discussion.
- Indent each reply to make discussions easier to follow.
- users can reset the indentation level when the formatting makes it look untidy (normally after about 4 or 5 indent levels).
- Always sign your comments with 4 tildes (~~~~) or use the signature button on the toolbar.
- Do not edit other people's comments on talk pages without their consent. An exception may be made for formatting errors which disrupt the flow of the talk page.
Article Talk Page Rules
- Do not post off topic subjects. Talkpages are for discussion of article page content and are not forums for general chit chat.
- Manual of Style on file uploads applies to all content on talk pages.
User Talk Page Rules
All users are entitled to have a limited amount of control of what can and cannot be done with their own talk page. Users may set local rules on their own talkpage within reason (e.g. they may choose to expand upon the civility guidelines and not allow any profanity), however users are not permitted to do any of the following:
- Remove all content (of any user talk page including their own)
- This particularly applies to warnings and block messages from staff
- This does not apply to the initial automated Welcome message which can be removed at the user's discretion
- Spamming or advertising
- Harassment or bullying (see civility rules above)
- Blatant disregard for or changing another user's local talk page rules
Any breaches of these rules should be reported to GTA Wiki staff.
User Talk Archival
Users are permitted to archive their talk page at intervals of their own discretion.
- {{Archive}} templates are available to assist with this action.
- Do not archive another user's page without permission.
