Shirley Harlingford is a minor character in Grand Theft Auto IV.
History[]
Background[]
Shirley has been married to Jeff Harlingford for an undetermined amount of time. He mentions that they have a son together.
She lives in an apartment in East Holland. She seems to be unhappy at home, due to her husband's increasing paranoia about her personal life. She reveals that the extent of his mania has reached the point that he has had her underwear stolen for DNA analysis, and that he is willing to have a tracking chip put in the base of her spine.
Events of Grand Theft Auto IV[]
Jeff tasks Niko Bellic with following his wife and her friend, under suspicion that she may be cheating on him. They arrive at the Superstar Café, where Niko takes pictures of the two, before vacating the scene.
Several days later, Niko receives a call from Jeff, who tells him that he stabbed his wife to death after confronting her. Niko then takes her body, stuffed in Jeff's Blista Compact and dumps it in the Humboldt River.
Niko can kill her (and her friend) in the Superstar Café without penalty. After her death, Niko calls Jeff and tells him that he should no longer worry about her. Jeff regrets asking Niko to deal with his situation and will cut ties with Niko. The rest of Jeff's encounters will not become available, thus avoiding his accidental death.
