Alan McClean is a character appearing on the promotional Lifeinvader website for Grand Theft Auto V.
History[]
Background[]
McClean is a retired Marine. He is divorced, and apparently was abusive towards his children.
McClean also wrote a book called Hitting Kids Works Wonders, and opened a boot camp based on it.
He is interested in "parental discipline done right", spelunking, dune buggies, Roman history, gladiator books and Marines.
Events of Grand Theft Auto V[]
Alan McClean can be heard on The Fernando Show on West Coast Talk Radio, after Sue Murry gives a negative opinion on his book. He calls in and begins to insult Sue Murry, saying that she deserves a spanking by a Marine and is then promptly hung up on.
His advertisements can also be heard on other radio stations.
Character[]
Influence[]
McClean might be based on Glenn Ellison, a former US Marine who runs a discipline camp in Jacksonville, FL and has been featured in an episode of World's Strictest Parents and a BBC documentary.
Another possible influence for McClean is John Rosemond, a parenting advice blogger and founder of the Leadership Parenting Institute based in New Bern, NC, whose work has been heavily promoted by political news publications such as PragerU and BlazeTV. Like McClean, Rosemond has also expressed support for the use of physical discipline tactics on children.
