Rudy D'Avanzo's Father is a character who is mentioned in Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

History[]

Background[]

He is the deceased father of Italian mobster Rudy D'Avanzo, a long-time enemy of the Messina Crime Family made-man Jimmy Capra. In Grand Theft Auto IV, it is mentioned that D'Avanzo's father was killed in a fish factory explosion – suspected to have been caused by the Triads, which caused Rudy to develop a hatred towards the Triads.

Events of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars[]

In 2009, Rudy D'Avanzo hears that the Triads are searching for a traitor within their organization who is selling them out to the FIB. He sees it as a perfect opportunity to get revenge on both the Triads and the Messinas. He tricks Huang Lee into believing that Jimmy Capra is the mobster who is ratting out the Triads to the feds.

Eventually, after the truce between the Messinas and the Triads ends, Huang finds out that he has been tricked by D'Avanzo, and is ordered to kill him. Shortly before killing him, Huang discovers that he is a crossdresser. D'Avanzo gets angry when Huang stares at him, claiming that he gave him the same judgmental look as his father.

Trivia[]

The fish factory explosion that killed D'Avanzo's father may be an Easter egg referring to the Turtle Head Fishing Company Factory explosion that happened in the 3D Universe timeline, although the factory was owned by the Triads and destroyed by Claude. The Triads, however, destroyed a Leone Drugs Warehouse in the same area three years pior.
- Regardless, none of these events are related to the factory explosion that killed D'Avanzo's father, which only happened in the HD Universe canon.
