Herbert Peter Sorg (1911-1979) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Sorg was nominated by President Dwight Eisenhower on May 20, 1955, to a new seat created by 68 Stat. 8; he was confirmed by the Senate on July 29, 1955, and received his commission on August 1st.[1] He served as chief judge from 1975 until December 20, 1976, when he assumed senior status. He served until his death on March 11, 1979. Sorg was succeeded in this position by Alan Bloch.
