Longlegs is a horror movie that has a little bit of some of the best horror movies ever made; and is missing one thing that each of these horror movies have.
Brutal Killer leaving cryptic messages and playing games with the police. CHECK. (Seven, Silence of the Lambs, Zodiac, etc.)
Good old-fashioned demon/devil possession driving the killer(s) to evil. CHECK (Exorcist, The Witch, Hereditary, Possession, etc.)
Crazy Unhinged Lead Psycho Killer Evil Person. (Joker, Psycho, I Saw the Devil, Henry, etc.) CHECK.
This film had the cliche horror movie lighting, the eerie effects, a few good jump scares, the mood music, and its fair share of creepy moments. I might even say it was delightfully creepy
The BIG thing that the film lacked was story, plausibility, and a script revealed the right hints and information at the right time. Much of Longlegs was predictable, and much just completely unbelievable---even for a movie in the horror genre.
It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. It didn't live up to the hype it built for itself and it left me feeling underwhelmed.
