believe the hype. this is one of, if not, the best horror film of 2024
the opening scene introduced me to a wynorrific atmosphere that will lead to what will be a bone-chilling mystery that will have you all eyes and ears towards it's horrific third act. maika monroe is incredible in this alongside nicolas cage whose interaction with monroe's lee harker had me on pins and needles like no other "hero vs villain" dynamic has. alicia witt also deserves her flowers in this, I was in shock to see how deep the longlegs rabbit hole went with her character's involvement. that whole incident with him meeting young lee the day before her birthday reminds me of 1) how most of us unfortunately have had weird interactions with a stranger like him when we were kids and don't remember till later in life and 2) how far a mother's unconditional love and dedication towards her child can go. this will definitely be a classic in the future
