My personal thoughts:

This piece feels like the start of a fresh new procedural series from James Wan and Leigh Whannell, whom I believe to be obvious influences, as it samples some of the smeared vibes, otherworld concepts and creepy ungodliness which were what made the initial installments of all of their franchises so worthwhile for a horrorhound.

However, the almost Krueger-level mind-f*cking killer Cage brings to the [interrogation] table and creeping up in your backyard is practically worth the whole price of admission.

The film strikes a good balance between the supernatural and the serial killer seeker genre, while feeling at parts like a true crime might have taken place or have at least been the basis. The parts with uncomfortable close-ups and/or without a score or any background noise, make you feel like you're right there in the room with them.

All in all, a much bolder, provocative and theatrical outing from the already-established industry professional, Oz Perkins.
