I know you're not afraid of a little dark, because you are the dark.
I was so nervous for the last couple of weeks giving I haven't liked any of the Perkins movies I've seen, but this blew me the fuck away. Sure, for some people this might be slow, and it might not be as original as they say, but I haven't been this unsettled with a horror movie in a long time.
Very chilling story with brutal and shocking moments, a gorgeous but pretty scary cinematography, an eerie score, suspenseful direction, off putting sound design, and amazing acting across the board.
Academy award winner, Nicolas Cage is as unsettling and terrifying as ever, and the criminally underrated Maika Monroe was riveting. The rest of cast did a great work as well, both those two made the film for me.
Being frightened while watching a movie with dozens and dozens of people it's such a vivid experience, making the hype for this movie very deserving.
