Walker Rutter’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love this movie to an insane degree. Here are some thoughts I have:
- Miles Morales. I love this character so much and I love the journey his character has and the culmination of his arc.
- Goes without saying but the animation is God-tier as well as the soundtrack and Daniel Pemberton’s score.
- The shoulder touch is my favorite running bit
- The best Stan Lee cameo
- Jake Johnson Dad-bod Peter B. Parker is the best version of Peter Parker in any medium and I will not hear otherwise.
- The reveal that the head scientist was Dr. Olivia Octavius and was this universe’s version of Doc Ock is still one of my favorite theater surprises ever.
- Spider-Gwen is just the coolest. No elaboration
- I like the way Nic Cage delivers the line “You gonna fight or you just bumping gums, you hard-boiled turtle slapper?!?”
- The Leap of Faith/”What’s Up Danger?” scene is probably my favorite scene in any movie ever and the shot of Miles falling down New York but the frame is upside-down so it looks like he isn’t falling but rising is just so fucking perfect man.
