Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

"Wow, that is one hardcore origin story, kid."

Same thoughts.

I finished this at 2AM on one of the nights that I struggled to adjust my body clock. I struggled with the choice of pausing and continuing when I wake but honestly…this was just too good. It is NOT just another Spiderman movie. It isn’t handcuffed to do the exact same formula as its predecessors did before it, but instead, is a unique, well-written, well-executed, and highly enjoyable animated film. Even the self-deprecating humor will make you laugh out loud. It is so well thought out that despite seeing several heroes and villains throughout the story, it isn’t anything close to being a mess.
Also, you cannot make a review of Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse without mentioning Miles Morales. I have always been a fan(girl) of Andrew Garfield (no, not his Spiderman. Just his face.) but golly, Miles just blew me away. Growing up with Peter Parker, you cannot simply help but have sentimental feelings about the character. But introducing Miles was such a strong and much-needed choice. There are so many reasons to love Miles. Off the bat, he is Black and Latino which makes him, upon my research, the first Black kid to become Spiderman. He has the best origin story. [SPOILER ALERT] Instead of having a good uncle, he has a bad one (but he’s super cool though.) The fact that he lives in a universe where Spiderman already existed gives us so much insight of what he’s going through. He is a character who has to deal with the fact that he isn’t the same Spiderman everyone knows. [SPOILER ENDED] Miles Morales is officially my favorite Spiderman.
With that said, everything was perfect. The characters, the narrative, the PACING, the animation, the dialogue, and the score. Conclusion: Best Spiderman movie the world has seen, and we want more.
