“I never thought I'd be able to do any of this stuff. But I can. Anyone can wear the mask. You can wear the mask. If you didn't know that before, I hope you do now. Cuz I'm Spider-Man. And I'm not the only one. Not by a long shot.”
A lot of attention gets focused on the visuals, and rightfully so, but the script for this movie is about as exemplary a screenplay as this genre has produced. The way it finds room for character development and long, heartfelt monologues about what it means to be Spider-Man (he is Marvel’s first and most fervent True Believer) amidst all the action is really terrific. It’s quotable, it’s funny, it’s sweet, and Miles’ speech directly to the viewer at the very end of the movie never fails to get me choked up.
