this movie slaps. the animation is beautiful, the writing is solid, the voice acting is immaculate, it’s just a banger in every department. the film kinda places the concept of spider-man as an everyman sort of idea, the main message is the idea that we’re never alone and that somewhere out there there’s always someone who’s going through what we’re going through. whether you’re a teen experiencing growing pains as you move towards a brighter future, an ageing man living with the regret and consequences that come with previous mistakes or even a pig, there are people out there that know what you’re going through and are happy to help. you’re never alone. the movie discourages the idea that this makes us any less unique or original, instead saying that it’s important to embrace the solace we find due to our similarities but also the new perspectives and ideas we experience due to our differences.
while the movie has a heavy load of symbolism lacking in obscurity, it makes up for this with its heart-warming and relatable message.
