I went to go see this after a really rotten birthday of mine. I spent it alone, and no one bothered to wish me a happy birthday. Birthdays are the one societal norm that I really subscribe to. I take them seriously, not only for myself, but for the people I care about, so I was really depressed.
When I was in the theater seeing this, all of my depression and disappointment melted away. It was such a great film. Not just the story itself, but the visuals, I was so artistically inspired during my creative rut. My senses were filled to the brim with joy, and I was so happy that this was the one good thing to come out of my birthday.
Last year I had company on my birthday, but that was also the day The Last Jedi came out, so I’d call this year a win.
