Jack Zouhary (b.1951) is a federal district judge on senior status on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He joined the court in 2006 after being nominated by President George W. Bush (R). Zouhary retired from full-time service, assuming senior status, on June 30, 2019.

Zouhary was succeeded on the Northern District of Ohio by James Knepp. Knepp was nominated by President Donald Trump (R) and confirmed on November 12, 2020.

Early life and education

Born in Toledo, Ohio, Zouhary graduated from Dartmouth College with his bachelor's degree in 1973 and later from University of Toledo College of Law with his J.D. degree in 1976.[1]

Professional career

Zouhary was a private practice attorney in the State of Ohio from 1976 to 1999 and again from 2004 to 2005. Zouhary was senior vice president and general counsel for S.E. Johnson Companies, Inc. from 2000 to 2003. Zouhary was appointed by Governor Bob Taft to serve as a Court of Common Pleas judge in the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas from 2005 to 2006.[1]

Judicial career

Northern District of Ohio

On the recommendation of U.S. Senators Mike DeWine and George Vonovich, Zouhary was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio by President George W. Bush (R) on December 14, 2005, to a seat vacated by David Katz. Zouhary was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 16, 2006, and received commission on March 28, 2006. Zouhary retired from full-time service, assuming senior status, on June 30, 2019.[2]

Zouhary was succeeded on the Northern District of Ohio by James Knepp. Knepp was nominated by President Donald Trump (R) and confirmed on November 12, 2020.
