David Bury is a federal judge serving on senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. He joined the court in 2002 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Prior to joining the court, Bury was a private practice attorney in Arizona.[1] On December 31, 2012, he assumed senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona after serving on the court for eleven years.[2]

Early life and education

A native of Oklahoma, Bury graduated from Oklahoma State University with his bachelor's degree in 1964 and later graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law with his J.D. degree in 1967.[1]

Professional career

Bury spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as an attorney licensed in the State of Arizona from 1967 to 2002.[1]

Judicial career

On the unanimous recommendation of Arizona U.S. Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain, Bury was nominated by President George W. Bush on September 10, 2001, to a new seat created by 114 Stat. 2762. Bury was confirmed by the Senate on March 15, 2002, on an unopposed 90-0-10 vote and received commission on March 19, 2002.[1][3] On December 31, 2012, Bury assumed senior status.[2]
