Susan Wigenton is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She joined the Court in 2006 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.

Early life and education

Born in Neptune, New Jersey, Wigenton graduated from Norfolk State University in Virginia with her bachelor's degree in 1984 and later received a Juris Doctor degree from the College of William and Mary Law School in 1987.[1]

Professional career

Wigenton was a law clerk for Superior Court Judge Lawrence Lawson in the Superior Court of New Jersey from 1987 to 1988 before serving in private practice in the State of New Jersey from 1988 to 2000.[1]

Judicial career

Magistrate, District of New Jersey

Wigenton was a federal magistrate judge in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey from 2000 to 2006.[1]

District of New Jersey

Wigenton was nominated to the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey by George W. Bush on January 25, 2006 to a seat vacated by John Bissell as Bissell assumed senior status. Wigenton was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 26, 2006 on a Senate voice vote and received commission on June 12, 2006.[2] [3]
