Percy Anderson is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of California.[1]

Early life and education

Born in Long Beach, California, Anderson graduated from the University of California-Los Angeles with his bachelor's degree in 1970 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1975.[1]

Professional career

Anderson was a Directing Attorney for San Fernando Valley Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc. from 1975 to 1978. Anderson was also a Lecturer at the University of California Los Angeles School of Law from 1977 to 1978. Anderson was a consultant for Legal Services Corporation of California from 1978 to 1979 before serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California U.S. Attorney's Office from 1979 to 1985. Anderson was a private practice attorney in California until 2002.[1]

Judicial career

Central District of California

Anderson was nominated to the United States District Court for the Central District of California by President George W. Bush on January 23, 2002 to a seat vacated by Kim McLane Wardlaw as Wardlaw was appointed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Anderson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 25, 2002 on a Senate vote and received commission on May 1, 2002.[2]

Judge Anderson sentenced two former supermarket managers to probation for telling locked out employees to use false social security numbers to get re-hired during a grocery strike in 2003 and 2004.

The two former zone managers for Ralph's Supermarkets were sentenced on March 22, 2010 to two years of probation. They were convicted of falsifying Internal Revenue Service and Immigration and Naturalization Service documents.[3]
