William H. Baughman is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He was first appointed to this position on February 16, 2000, and his current term expired on February 15, 2024.

Education

Judge Baughman earned his undergraduate degree from Saint Vincent College and his law degree from the Notre Dame Law School.

Career

Judge Baughman began his career as a law clerk for two judges of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in Chicago. For four years, he participated as a charter member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit's Attorney Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures and the chair of the Advisory Committee. Prior to his judicial appointment in 2000, he was a partner of the law firm Weston, Hurd, Fallon, Paisley & Howley, L.L.P.
