Class work : Discussion on comprehension questions. Pg #19
Written work of question / answers
a. People are made of places means that a person’s character is always formed by the place
who he/she is born.
b. Nature is beautiful- forests, blue berry woods, winter and spring violets growing and ice or ice
breaking is a wonderful natural beauty. The beauty can take anyone in the imaginary
paradise.
c. City life: 1. More facilities 2. Comfortable 3. Medical facilities 4. Factories and offices are
available also polluted by the smoke, over crowded, waste of chemicals and noise pollution.
Country life: 1. Simple people 2. Fresh atmosphere 3. Close to nature and soil 4. Less
medical facilities 5. Peaceful life with no pollution.
Main idea of the poem: the main idea of the poem seems to be that a person’s character is
always formed by the places where he is born. Where ever you go in life you will carry with you
memories of your birth place: “Atmosphere of cities how different drops from them.” Poet says
that the atmosphere where you in can affect you. Smog telling us about winter day with density of
air and also tells us how the flowers of spring are starting to blossom. The poet tells us that in city
life nature still exists in public parks. People care about things like blue berry bush. It means
growing of something new where there was nothing before. The farmhouse life where chickens
are kept means the source of food. Poet says that the spring and winter are two opposite
seasons which means – winter represents the cold city life and spring the colourful country life.
