Note, the production model of this vehicle has a reduced missile capacity.”
The Imponte Ruiner 2000 is a modified muscle car featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Import/Export update.
Influence[]
The Ruiner 2000 is heavily based on the Pontiac Trans Am (KITT) from the TV series Knight Rider.
Design[]
The Ruiner 2000 is a modern variant of the Ruiner, retaining the overall shape and characteristic features. However, it receives a different front end with a slightly pronounced nose, where the upper center has a small screen with animated red dots when the car's engine is on. The headlights are hidden within the car and act as pop-up units, which retain the square-shaped lights from the standard Ruiner. It also features the same offset cowl induction hood from the standard model in GTA IV but with a vent insert instead of a solid panel. The sides are mostly identical to the Ruiner, but without the side marker lights and all of the silver badges. The cabin is mostly identical, with the exception of the permanently solid roof with a small hatch. The rear of the car retains the lip spoiler, the central plate holder and the quad exhaust setup, but features a black panel containing LED tail lights on the same position as the ones from the Ruiner, with the outer ones being the brake/marker lights and the inner ones the reverse lights and turn signals.
Compared to the standard version, the Ruiner 2000 gains a completely redesigned interior, consisting of dual digital displays with numerous switches below them and RPM indicators in the center, reused from race-type interiors. A radio display can be also seen in the center of the console, facing to the driver side.
Color distribution is similar to the normal Ruiner, with the primary one on the body, interior stitching and details of the steering wheel and the secondary one in the form of two stripes on the lower side, though no longer bearing the "RUINER" name on the sides. The wheels have a unique design, featuring star-shaped rims with hexagonal patterns on each spoke, linear separations and five bolts around the center. These rims can also support a dedicated color, although only naturally-generated examples from Content Creator, missions and Adversary Modes may have one. Purchased examples come with black-colored rims.
The Ruiner 2000 is armed with machine guns and homing missiles located on the lower vents of the front bumper, as well as a parachute hatch on the roof and a power hop mechanism. Both the machine guns and the rocket launchers pop up upon driving it.

Performance[]
Vehicle[]
The vehicle improves in performance over the regular Ruiner, with increased acceleration and top speed. Powered by the same single-cam V8, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout, the Ruiner 2000 is a great performer on its class, as much as its standard version.
Abilities[]
The vehicle has access to special abilities:
- A parachute mechanism on the roof that helps the vehicle to slow down while falling and allows to reach a destination quicker if used from a considerable height. It also helps for recovering the vehicle when it flips while falling. Despite having the same weakness as its normal counterpart of being ripped apart with gunfire or crashing with an obstacle, another one can be deployed almost immediately, suppressing this flaw significantly.
- A power hop mechanism that allows the car to jump for about four/five meters, and recharges for a few seconds to be used again. This helps at sorting out barriers and traffic in general, but caution should be taken, as the jump often makes the vehicle uncontrollable at high speeds, which may end up causing the car to crash into a building, get stuck or even accidentally fall into deep water or flammable objects. It is best to use the parachute shortly afterwards, so the player can manage the landing easily and avoid any of the aforementioned circumstances.
Weaponry[]
- Machine Gun: The driver has access to two front-facing machine guns, which work similarly to those from aircraft such as the Buzzard Attack Chopper and the Annihilator. These guns have a moderate base damage of 20 and a very high fire rate of 1,200 rounds per minute, but they have a rather short range of 100 meters/328 feet (slightly shorter than most firearms, which have a maximum range of 120 meters/393 feet). The weapons work relatively well against targets on foot and unarmored vehicles, but will struggle against armored vehicles such as the Kuruma (Armored) and the Insurgent.
- Missiles: The driver also has access to two missile launchers, which provide heavy firepower against most targets and function similarly to the ones from the Buzzard Attack Chopper and the Savage. However, they have a reduced lock-on range of 225 meters (compared to the aircraft's lock-on range of 300 meters) and limited ammo of just eight rockets. However, their tracking characteristics outclass most aircraft-launched missiles by an extreme margin, only rivaled by other weaponized land vehicles such as the Deluxo and Scramjet,

![]() The wrecked |
Wrecked variant | A wrecked prop model of the Ruiner 2000, internally named ruiner3 , seen during the Special Vehicle Work mission, Breakdown Recovery. This model uses the wheels from the standard Ruiner instead of the 2000's unique wheel design.
|
If obtained through the use of glitches or Modifications, the wrecked model is considered an entirely separate, driveable vehicle, sharing the same .gxt2/entry name as the Ruiner and having invisible wheels (the actual wheels are simply part of the vehicle's chassis and do not affect the handling in any way). |
Prominent Appearances in Gameplay[]
Free Mode[]
- One Ruiner 2000 is provided during the Organization Work Fully Loaded, used to destroy Turreted Limos or Technicals scattered around the map. If destroyed, the game will spawn a new one at a suitable location near the player.
- This version of the vehicle features unlimited missiles, immunity to lock-on, and resistance against explosions.
Contact Missions[]
- One Ruiner 2000 needs to be destroyed in Repo - Blow Up IV.
Special Vehicle Work[]
- The Ruiner 2000 appears in the eighth Special Vehicle Work mission, Arms Embargo, where it is used to get rid of the US Army's arms cache. This version has unlimited rockets.
Adversary Modes[]
- Ruiner 2000s are used in the following Adversary Modes:
- Overtime Rumble (weapons disabled)
- Overtime Shootout (weapons disabled)
- Motor Wars VII (homing capabilities disabled)
- Occupy
Gunrunning Resupply[]
- A white modified Ruiner 2000 appears in a Steal Supplies mission used to distract cops (gaining 4 stars).
Locations[]
- Can be purchased by CEOs with a Vehicle Warehouse from Warstock Cache & Carry for $3,750,000 or for $2,812,500 after completing Arms Embargo as a CEO.
- Prior to the pricing adjustments made with the Los Santos Drug Wars update, the vehicle cost $5,745,600, with a trade price of $4,320,000.
Radio Stations[]
- In Grand Theft Auto Online, the default radio stations are grouped by genre. The Ruiner 2000 uses the "Rock" group which can play:
- Los Santos Rock Radio
- Radio Mirror Park
- Kult FM (Enhanced Editions only)
- Vinewood Boulevard Radio (May not play due to a three station limit within the group)
Trivia[]
- The number "2000" in the Ruiner 2000's name is a direct reference to the car it is based on, being the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT).
- The vertical jumping ability of the Ruiner 2000 pays homage to Knight Rider's KITT, as in the TV show, KITT could perform a "turbo boost" which allowed it to easily pass obstacles by jumping over them.
- If the player stays still with the Ruiner 2000 for long enough, a warbling sound will start playing. This sound is a direct reference to Knight Rider's KITT, as the sound is almost identical to the radar scanner on KITT.
- If the secondary color is painted silver, the Ruiner 2000 can be made to resemble the Knight Automated Roving Robot (KARR), the prototype model of KITT.
- If the player restricts access to the vehicle, players attempting to enter the Ruiner 2000 will be electrocuted as if they were shot with the Stun Gun, causing them to fall on the ground.
- The Ruiner 2000 is depicted with a beige interior in the Warstock Cache & Carry website, even though no interior color option exists.
- If the Ruiner 2000 is warped to the player (by starting a Job then exit), the rockets will reappear as if they were replenished. This does not affect the actual amount of rockets it holds, however.
Oversights[]
- There was a glitch where the front-left brake disc would clip through the rim of the car when turning left. This was fixed in the 1.38 update.
