The BF Dune FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle) is an armed variant of the Dune Buggy featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Gunrunning update.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
The buggy appears to take strong inspirations from the Desert Patrol Vehicle (formerly known as the "Fast Attack Vehicle"), although with a standard cabin instead of having a rear section for the rear gunner.
The Dune FAV is essentially a Dune Buggy modified for combat purposes. While sharing the initial buggy design, the front features an additional frame bar behind the lights, while the upper front area is less angled than the Dune Buggy and has an extended panel on the driver side and a cut-out for the passenger-side turret. The sides of the vehicle feature extended racks to carry additional equipment, while the cabin features a higher, flatter profile, an additional front frame and a solid roof panel. The rear section is more or less identical to the Dune Buggy, but the rear frames are more slanted and features a solid plate covering the rear end and the engine bay. Its underside is also similar to the Dune Buggy, but features a sump guard below the engine. The vehicle features an extensive amount of equipment on the front, sides and rear, consisting of a shovel and axe kit, duffel bags, ammo boxes, Jerry Cans, a spare wheel and a strapped antenna on the driver side, as well as a Carbine Rifle on the driver-side frame and a Combat MG on the passenger-side one.
The occupants' section retains the same features as the standard Dune Buggy, but features an additional support for the turret mount, while the passenger side of the cabin frame is moved downwards to leave extra room for the gun. The wiring for the radio set is also readjusted in line with the frame below the turret gun.
The vehicle's primary colour is applied on the entirety of the vehicle and the rims, while the secondary colour is applied on the brake calipers. It also shares the same rim design as the Dune Buggy and the Injection, but all four wheels are fitted with dust tyres.
The vehicle is equipped with a Shrewsbury 7.62mm MG, which can be replaced with either a Shrewsbury 40mm Grenade Launcher or a Coil 7.62mm Minigun.

Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
Vehicle[]
The Dune FAV appears to have better top speed and acceleration than the Dune Buggy, while retaining the general handling and the off-road capabilities. The Dune FAV can also lean easily in mid-air jumps, allowing for quick recoveries. However, the lack of armour makes the vehicle vulnerable against collisions, firearms in general and explosives, and the lack of armour plating on the cabin renders the occupants vulnerable to gunfire.
Like the Dune Buggy and many BF offroad vehicles, the Dune FAV is powered by a single cam Flat-4 engine, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a rear engine, rear wheel drive layout. Its sound appears to be a louder variation of the one from the Dune Buggy and the Injection.
Weaponry[]
The gunner has access to a dashboard-mounted turret that gives limited motion range, with a rotation angle of about 90 degrees (45 for each side) and an elevation angle of about -10 to 30 degrees. If alone, the drive can easily switch between the driver seat and the gunner seat when stationary.
- Machine Gun: the first option by default is a 7.62mm MG, which has similar statistics to that of the Insurgent Pick-Up's MG turret, having a base damage of 150, a fire rate of about 410 rounds per minute and a maximum range of 500 meters.
- Grenade Launcher: the second option is a 40mm Grenade Launcher, which provides greater firepower against armoured targets and a greater range of about 150 meters/492 feet, at the cost of having limited fire rate (49 rounds per minute) and ammo (20 rounds). The rounds will explode half a second after hitting the ground, similar to Pipe Bombs.
- Minigun: the third option is a 7.62mm Minigun, which behaves the same as any mounted minigun present in other vehicles such as the Valkyrie and the Turreted Limo. The Minigun suffers from a significant loss in damage output; whilst it gains almost triple the MG's firerate (1200 RPM, three times the stock Machine Gun's 410 RPM), it experiences an extreme drop in individual projectile damage (30, compared to the stock 150). As a result, the Minigun option offers only roughly 60% of the DPS (damage per second) that the stock Machine Gun dishes out. Despite this, the Minigun is able to destroy vehicles instantly upon being damaged enough, while the Machine Gun can only set them aflame and requires additional rounds to finally destroy it.
- The vehicle has the option for installing Proximity Mines, which behave the same as any remote explosive and are operated by the driver. These mines are a bit stronger than their hand-held counterparts and are also limited to five active mines. Caution should be taken when using it, as it can potentially damage or destroy the vehicle.

Prominent Appearances in Gameplay[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- One or two Dune FAVs are provided to the crew in the first Mobile Operation mission, Severe Weather Patterns. One has the mounted MG and the second one a mounted Minigun.
- Furthermore, if the player has completed this mission, the regular Dune Buggy provided in a Steal Supplies mission will be replaced with a Dune FAV.
- Dune FAVs are occasionally provided as the delivery vehicles in a Sell Weapons mission to make 5 drop-offs around the map. The mission also asks the player to use the buggies' Proximity Mines to take out enemies chasing behind.
- Used by attacking enemies in the Quarry Survival.
Locations[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- Available in Warstock Cache & Carry for $1,130,500 or for $850,000 after completing Severe Weather Patterns.
- Available for free if the player has purchased the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack.
- Awarded to players who complete Tier 4 of Gunrunning in Career Progress as of the San Andreas Mercenaries update.
Trivia[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- The Dune FAV has no default radio station. The radio will be switched off when the player enters the vehicle.
Oversights[]
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- If an NPC uses the mounted gun, they will be able to shoot enemies in any direction, ignoring its physical restriction. Despite this, the gun is still physically restricted from facing in the direction its bullets will travel.
- For instance, this can be done in the mission No Hay Bronca, which allows Stanley to use the gun as a passenger.
- This is also seen in many other armed NPC enemy vehicles, whereas they can shoot at any direction the player is at regardless of the weapon's direction/rotation ability.
