The Visit「見学, Kengaku?」 is the forty-fourth chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on May 20, 2021.[1]
Summary[]
Yoriko insists on paying the check since she is the older of the two and she wants to save face despite earning less. Yoriko suggest they continue drinking by going to another pub but Abiko excuses herself to the restroom to clean her teeth. While waiting, Yoriko thinks to herself that there are many strange people in the manga industry and Abiko is one of the odder ones. Drawing manga one their own is one thing but adaptations requires working with others. On the one hand, a lack of oversight mean the production team doing whatever they want but on the other hand, meddling too much would thrown the entire production into chaos, so it is all about finding the right balance. She then heads to the restroom herself to find Abiko brushing her teeth with two toothbtushes, who explains that she is trying to be as fast as possible. Noting Abiko's oddities, Yoriko hopes everything will be smooth sailing.
It is another day of the rehearsals and the script writer Goa has come in person today. Aqua notes that the original author, Abiko will be visiting, so Goa has likely come to meet her. Akane then asks Aqua about the script of Tokyo Blade, and he thinks it is very well done since it follows the original material closely. And in comparison to his previous project, Sweet Today, it is significantly better. He then suggest to her to asking the scriptwriter about any doubts she may have. Akane does not want to break the chain of command but Aqua goes up to GOA and director Kindachi and starts asking on her behalf. With reluctance, she states her concerns regarding the way Princess Saya is portrayed and Goa understands them right away. Princess Saya appears to be much more aggressive than in the source material, where she was much more conflicted about the decision. Goa explained that he was actually torn writing it because have things the way they were from the source material would take up too much screen time. Given the number of characters as well as the 2 hour limit, he had to simplify things or the whole thing would suffer from a lack of focus and the audience would feel lost. Goa offers to revise the script for her but Kindachi shuts down the idea as he prefer the way it is. By simplifying the dynamic, they can emphasize on the important parts. Begrudgingly, Akane accepts the explantation
Raida then arrives and introduce the casts to the special guests of the day, mangaka Yoriko and Abiko. Yoriko have a pleasant exchange with Kana and Aqua but gives Melt a frosty reception for dragging down the perofmance of Sweet Today. Akane greets Abiko but being shy, she goes to hide behind Yoriko. The cast then continues their rehearsal as the two the observe. When asked, Abiko says she is impressed by everyone's performance. Yoriko thinks Abiko is pleased but then she makes a request. She wants the entire script revised, prompting dismay from everyone.
