Cosplay「コスプレ, Kosupure?」 is the eighty-ninth chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on July 28, 2022.[1]
Summary[]
The day of the interview arrives, and Minami Kotobuki can be seen changing into her cosplay outfit in the Comiket's women changing room. She is then approached by Ruby Hoshino, and both expresses their elation of finally working together. Mimi Yoshizumi awkwardly watch them from behind until Ruby notices her, and she introduces herself to the two. Minami notices how cute her voice is and wonders if she is a voice actress, and Mimi says that her job is related to it.
Ruby introduces everyone to Meiya, a cosplayer that she knew through another project. Meiya recognizes Minami and said she checks her work regularly. Minami, in turn, wants to know about Meiya's work but she reveals that her work is too erotic, so it might be inappropriate for minors.
Meiya then brings up the topic of the last minute changes and worried if everyone else featured in the show can manage with the sudden changes. Minami and Mimi replies that they were able to get everything ready. Shun Yoshizumi apologizes profusely to Meiya. She then continues by saying that the television industry people continues to act brazenly and did not consider others circumstances, and it could have made things uncomfortable for everyone involved. Minami said she didn't mind, saying that things are also chaotic for people on the set and understanding the circumstances. Meiya smiles and says that Minami belongs in the show business after all.
Ruby then ends the conversation by saying that everyone else can manage since they're professional, and they should be dealing with these things everyday. Afterwards, the filming of the Dig Deep! One Chance show can be seen, with crowds of people coming in for Comiket, Ruby interviewing cosplayers, and Shun working hard.
Shun once again apologizes to Meiya, and she said she didn't mind, because she figures he must've been having a tough time as well. Director Tetsu Urushibara then approached Shun, which surprised him. He take note of how hot it is, and comments on how people would cosplay even in such weather, which brings a reluctant laughter from Shun. Mimi then approached him and asks if that was the person, implying the person as the one that changes things last minute, and said that she hates his face. Shun ask her to not say that.
Urushibara then ask Shun about Meiya, and he recognizes her as the cosplayers who did cosplay that are "borderly obscene", and comments loudly about how lewd they were, which Meiya replies with a nervous laugh. The filming of the shows continues, as the full cosplay of Ruby, Minami, Mimi, and Meiya is shown. Urushibara is shown admonishing Shun, but the rest of the filming seems to run smoothly. As the filming is over, Mimi and Minami take a rest as they are puckered out by the filming.
Meiya said that she has a photo shoot after the filming, and recommends Ruby to check out the event, especially the cosplay area, since she's already in a cosplay herself. Ruby agrees and pulls Mimi to join her along with Minami as they visit the cosplay area, and even poses for a few photographers. The event soon ends and the three of them split their ways with Meiya. As Meiya rides the train back home, she opens her phone and start writing a tweet about her experience with the interview, and her feeling disrespected by the TV industry. The tweet she sent has gone viral, reaching thousands of likes and retweets.
