Growth「成長, Seichō?」 is the fifty-eighth chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on October 7, 2021.[1]
Summary[]
Melt's performance, which perfectly replicated the panels from the manga, earns a round of applause from the audience. Abiko is particularly impressed since she thought the sequence would be too difficult to act out for real and excluded it from the script. Backstage, Kana asks if Aqua if this was his idea but Aqua claims it was all Melt's, he simply highlighted how people become more attentive if something unexpected happens and now Melt has to make full use of it. On the stage, Sakuya remains unconvinced by Melt's little trick since in his opinion, the audience comes to see great acting.
Despite taking acting more seriously, Melt is conscious of the gap in skills between him and his fellow co-stars; they could understand their characters' feelings and put them into acting. He however struggled to understand his own character but eventually, he had an epiphany, it is frustration with oneself. Sakuya then notices a change in Melt, who is channeling his emotions into his acting. Melt has put all of his efforts into this single minute and vows for this minute his acting will not lose to anyone's.
As the audience gives another round of applause, Kaburagi believes that the casting of Melt was the right choice, as Yoriko is moved to tears. Kana and Taiki return to the stage to continue the fight. Backstage, Sakuya for but Sakuya praises Melt for his performance. Melt then tells Aqua that he finally understands what he meant by putting emotion into acting and expresses enjoyment of the experience.
