Lousy「ヘタクソ, Heta Kuso?」 is the fifty-seventh chapter of the Oshi no Ko manga series. It is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It was released in Weekly Young Jump on September 30, 2021.[1]
Summary[]
Melt has always been aware of his popularity since middle school when a girl from third year took advantage of him. Things always seemed to go his way, the girl he falls for would tell him that she liked him. So he did not think much of it when the opportunity presented itself for him to join the entertainment industry. Yoriko notes that Kizami is meant to be strong in the current scene but she does not Melt's performance to be powerful and she wonders why the part was given to such a lousy actor. Sakuya also finds Melt's acting lackluster and is not impressed to be sharing the stage with him because he does not want to lower his performance to match Melt's.
Melt on the other hand is fully aware of his limitations and that everyone has been matching their performance to his level. This is why Sweet Today was received so poorly as it was dragged down by his acting. As a result he has been trying to improve himself since then. One particular area is stamina and he has been running every day since. This was noticed by Kana who once joined him on a run. In the present, Sakuya is surprised that Melt is not tiring out despite the fact that they have been acting a physically demanding scene. However the audience can still notice that Melt's acting is below par.
During the rehearsals, Melt once came to Aqua for advice regarding his poor acting as he does not want ruin another project because of it. Aqua provided no insight but mentioned that his poor acting can be used as an advantage. Aqua then pointed out that his big scene is the showdown with Monme and he can capture the audience's attention by doing something unexpected. On the stage, Melt flings the sword into the air and grabs it in one fell swoop. This stunning demonstration earns a huge round of applause from the audience.
