45510 is a short story written by Aka Akasaka as a basis for the opening song of the Oshi no Ko anime adaptation, Idol by YOASOBI. It was released on April 12, 2023.[1]
Summary[]
The story stars a former member of B-Komachi as the POV character who begins reminiscing the past as she watches a video interview of Ai Hoshino from 16 years ago.
In the past, their manager Ichigo Saitou always favored Ai and the other members were not happy with it. One of the girls was so displeased with the situation that she was even fired for "stealing Ai's cosmetics and spreading rumors about Ai among the members".
However, without Ai, there would be no B-Komachi, and therefore the members put up with it.
When B-Komachi was first established, everyone was relatively harmonious. One of the members even suggested starting a blog together. The password was 45510 which was the initials of the founding members when input using a Japanese flick keyboard. After remembering the password to log in, the POV character found several private blogs as well as a draft containing an apology from Ai, her wish to reconcile as well as a message she wanted to tell everyone.
The POV character then closes the draft, wanting to remember Ai as someone who is strong, as someone who does not cling to her friends. The POV character then shuts down the account, thinking that message might have been an SOS from Ai, but no one will ever see it again.
Trivia[]
- Though not confirmed, it is implied that the POV character of the short story is Fuyuko Niino, who was revealed to harbor an obsession toward Ai in Chapter 132.
