Joseph Simon Lord III (1912-1991) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Lord was nominated by President John F. Kennedy on August 31, 1961, to a new seat created by 75 Stat. 80; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 14, 1961, and received his commission on September 15th.[1] From 1971-1982, he served as the chief judge. He assumed senior status on July 1, 1982. He served the Eastern District of Pennsylvania until his death on April 23, 1991. Lord was succeeded in this position by Marvin Katz.
