Edward Skottowe Northrop (1911-2003) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.[1]

Northrop was nominated by President John F. Kennedy on August 23, 1961, to a new seat created by 75 Stat. 80; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 1, 1961, and received his commission on September 5th. He served as chief judge from 1970 until June 12, 1981, when he assumed senior status. He served in that capacity until his death on August 12, 2003.[1] Northrop was succeeded in this position by Walter Black.
