Bailey Brown (1917-2004) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. Brown died on October 6, 2004.

Judicial nominations and appointments
Sixth Circuit
Brown was nominated to the Sixth Circuit by President Jimmy Carter on March 15, 1979, to a seat vacated by Harry Phillips; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 25, 1979, and received commission the next day. He assumed senior status on June 16, 1982, and retired on December 31, 1997.[1]
Western District of Tennessee
Brown was nominated to the Western District of Tennessee by President John F. Kennedy on August 7, 1961, to a new seat created by 75 Stat. 80; he was confirmed by the Senate on August 21, 1961, and received commission that same day. He served as chief judge from 1966 until he advanced to the Sixth Circuit on September 26, 1979.[1] Brown was succeeded in this position by Odell Horton.
