Jesse Ernest Eschbach (1920-2005) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.

Judicial nominations and appointments

Seventh Circuit

Eschbach was nominated to the Seventh Circuit by President Ronald Reagan on October 20, 1981, to a seat vacated by Luther Swygert; he was confirmed by the Senate on November 24, 1981, and received commission on December 1, 1981. He assumed senior status on November 4, 1985. He served the Seventh Circuit until his death on October 25, 2005.

Northern District of Indiana

Eschbach was nominated to the Northern District of Indiana by President John F. Kennedy on March 12, 1962, to a seat vacated by Luther Swygert; he was confirmed by the Senate on April 2, 1962, and received commission on April 13, 1962. From 1974-1981, he served as the chief judge. He served the Northern District of Indiana until he was elevated to the Seventh Circuit on December 11, 1981.[1] Eschbach was succeeded in this position by James T. Moody.
