John Henry Moore II was a federal judge with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He joined the court in 1981 after a nomination by President Ronald Reagan (R). Moore assumed senior status on December 31, 1995. His service ended on July 19, 2013, upon his death.[1]

Early life and education

Moore was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He earned a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1952. He earned a J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law in 1961.[1]

Military service

Moore served in the U.S. Navy Reserve as a Commander on reservist duty from 1948 to 1971.[1]

Middle District of Florida

On the recommendation of Senator Paula Hawkins, Moore was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on November 4, 1981, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629 which was approved by Congress. Moore was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 24, 1981 on a senate vote and received commission on December 1, 1981. Moore served as chief judge as the court's administrative officer along with the Clerk of Court from 1992 to 1995 before later assuming senior status on December 31, 1995.[1]
