Carlos E. Mendoza is a federal judge of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. On February 6, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Mendoza to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.[1] The United States Senate confirmed Mendoza on June 24, 2014, on a vote of 94-0.[2]

Prior to joining the federal court, he was a judge on the Seventh Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in July 2011.[3][4]

Education

Mendoza received both his B.A., with magna cum laude honors, in 1993 and J.D. in 1997 from West Virginia University.[3]

Military career

Mendoza served in the United States Marines from 1989 to 1995, where he earned the rank of Corporal, and the United States Navy from 1997 to 2005, where he earned the rank of Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged from both the Marines and the Navy. While in the military he earned numerous awards.

On February 6, 2014, Carlos E. Mendoza was nominated by President Barack Obama to a seat on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Mendoza was nominated to fill a vacancy created by John Antoon who assumed senior status on June 3, 2013. On his nomination and three others:
