Edward Francis Harrington was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He joined the court in 1988, after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. At the time of appointment, he was a private practice attorney in Massachusetts. Harrington assumed senior statuson March 1, 2001.[1][2]

Education

A native of Massachusetts, Harrington graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and from Boston College Law School with his J.D. in 1960.[1]

Military service

Edward Harrington served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant in the JAG corps from 1955 to 1957 and the Reserves from 1957 to 1972.[1]

Judicial career

Harrington was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on September 18, 1987, to a seat vacated by Andrew Caffrey. Harrington was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on February 19, 1988, on a voice vote and received his commission on February 22, 1988. He assumed senior status on March 1, 2001.[1] His position was filled by George O'Toole.
