William Terrell Hodges was an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Hodges was nominated by to the court in 1971 by Richard Nixon (R). He then served on senior status from 1999 until his death on January 4, 2022.[1]
Education
Hodges graduated with his bachelor's and J.D. degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1956 and 1958.[1]
Professional career
Hodges spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney in the State of Florida from 1958 to 1971. He also served as a part-time instructor in business at the University of South Florida in Tampa Bay from 1961 to 1966.[1]

Judicial career
Middle District of Florida
Hodges was nominated by President Richard Nixon (R) on December 8, 1971, to a seat vacated by Judge Joseph Lieb.[3] Hodges was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 11, 1971, and received commission on December 15, 1971. Hodges served as the chief judge of the court from 1982 to 1989, before assuming senior status on May 2, 1999. His service ended on January 4, 2022, when he died.[1]
