Patrick Anthony Conmy is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota. He first joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. From 1985 to 1992, Conmy served the district court's chief judge.

Early life and education

A native of Fargo, North Dakota, Conmy graduated from Harvard College with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and from Georgetown College Law Center with his J.D. in 1959.[1]

Conmy was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on October 16, 1985, to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota vacated by Judge Bruce Van Sickle. Hearings on Conmy's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on November 6, 1985, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) on November 14, 1985. Conmy was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on December 16, 1985, and he received his commission the next day. From 1985 to 1992, Conmy served as the chief judge of the district court. He elected to take senior status beginning on January 5, 2000. He was succeeded in this position by Judge Daniel Hovland.[1][2]
