Patrick Duggan was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He joined the court in 1986 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Duggan assumed senior status on September 29, 2000, and retired from the court on September 30, 2015.[1] Duggan died in March 2020.

Education

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Duggan graduated from Xavier University with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and later from Detroit Mercy School of Law with his law degree in 1958.[2]

Professional career

Duggan was a private practice attorney in Detroit, Michigan from 1959 to 1976, before serving as Circuit Court Judge for Wayne County, Michigan until 1986.[2]

Judicial career

Eastern District of Michigan

Duggan was nominated to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan by President Ronald Reagan on September 11, 1986, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333, which was approved by Congress. Duggan was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 8, 1986, and received commission on October 14, 1986. He assumed senior status on September 9, 2000, and retired from the court on September 30, 2015.[2]
