Pull Your Weight (also known as Friends in High Places) is a recurring endurance challenge that debuted in Survivor: Pearl Islands and was used internationally in Australian Survivor (2016) and Australian Survivor: Champions v Contenders (2019).

Rules

One or two castaways will be suspended above the water, while their tribemates will hold a rope to keep them above the water. At certain points, one castaway from each tribe will let go of their rope, making it harder to keep up the suspended castaway. The tribe that is able to keep their suspended castaway up the longest wins.

History

United States

The challenge was first used in Pearl Islands as the third Immunity Challenge of the season. Drake won the challenge after it came down to Osten Taylor and Rupert Boneham holding up their respective tribe members Darrah Johnson and Michelle Tesauro.

Australia

The challenge appeared as the seventh Immunity Challenge of Australian Survivor (2016). As opposed to the original version of the challenge seen in Pearl Islands, only one person would hold the rope at any given time. When they could no longer hold on, they were allowed to bail out by handing the rope to one of their four other tribemates. Saanapu struggled early on in the challenge, and by the 40-minute mark, they were already down to their second-last member (Flick Egginton) while Aganoa and Vavau were still on their first (Rohan MacLaren and Craig I'Anson respectively). Around 52 minutes into the challenge, Matt Tarrant, the last competing member of Saanapu, dropped Brooke Jowett, causing his tribe to lose the challenge and sending them to Tribal Council.
