Koh-Lanta: Johor is the seventeenth season of Koh-Lanta. It was broadcast on TF1 from April 24 to July 24, 2015.

It is the first season to feature new players since the 2013 series cancellation due to the death of a castaway.

Marc Rambaud defeated Chantal Ménard in a 9-2 jury vote to become the Sole Survivor.

Production

The launch of this new season, originally planned for April 3, 2015 according to media journalists, was delayed by TF1 due to the helicopter accident that occurred during the filming of Dropped, another show from Adventure Line Productions. A tribute to the victims of the accident was broadcast at the start of Episode 1.

Twists

• Tribe Selection: At the marooning, the castaways were told that an advantage was hidden near the beach. The first person to find it would become the leader of one of the two tribes. After the advantage had been found, the tribe must pick the leader of the opposing tribe.
• Schoolyard Pick:'''' After the two tribe leaders had been selected, they would choose their tribes in a Schoolyard Pick.
• Banishment: On Day 4, before the second Reward Challenge, each tribe was told to exile a man and a woman from the opposing tribe, who would be exiled from their tribes for an undefined time period.
• Tribe Switch: On Day 7, the four banished castaways would take part in a 2 vs. 2 challenge, with the pairs being divided by gender. The winning pair then become the new tribe leaders and would complete a second Schoolyard Pick.
• Camp Swap: After the Day 13 Reward Challenge, the tribes are told that, on Day 14, they would switch campsites.
• Replacements: Due to three medical evacuations, three castaways (Isabelle Haouzi, Christophe Pendon and Jeff Santiago) returned into the game after being voted out.
• Ambassadors: At the merge, each tribe would send an ambassador to a summit. Their purpose is to directly eliminate a castaway, and if the two ambassadors do not agree on a name, one ambassador is eliminated by a rock draw. This season, before choosing their ambassadors, each tribe would select an ambassador from the opposing tribe. However, no diplomats would be sent to the opposing tribe's camp.
• Tied Destinies: On Day 24, the ten remaining castaways were divided into five pairs by a rock draw. Until the next Tribal Council, the fate of each castaway is linked to their partner: the challenges are competed as pairs, and the castaway voted out at Tribal Council also causes their partner's elimination.
