Challenge Pitch (also known as Going Coconuts and Drag Race) is a recurring challenge that originated in Survivor: Cagayan. It was later used in Millennials vs. Gen X and Survivor 47.
Rules[]
The castaways would use sand bags to knock down a wall. Once the wall has been decimated, each tribe must rebuild their wall. The first team to finish rebuilding wins.
History[]
United States[]
The challenge debuted in Cagayan as a Reward Challenge. The Solarrion tribe was divided into two teams of three. Each team would use sand bags to knock down the other team's wall. Once one team decimates the other team's wall, both teams would switch positions, and one member will start rebuilding their wall. In a closely fought challenge, the team of Kass McQuillen, Spencer Bledsoe, and Woo Hwang won reward.
The challenge returned in Millennials vs. Gen X as Going Coconuts. Each tribe would carry heavy bags containing coconuts and sandbags through an obstacle course. Then, one, by one, each tribe member would carry one bag while crossing over a balance beam. Once everyone is across, they must separate the coconuts from the sandbags, after which one tribe member will use the sandbags to clear a block puzzle on a table. Two other tribe members would then reassemble the dismantled puzzle. Takali fell behind early on after CeCe Taylor struggled on the balance beam. This gave Vanua an early lead and won them reward and immunity, sending Takali to Tribal Council.
The challenge reappeared in Survivor 47 in a similar format to Going Coconuts, except the balance beam was replaced with a new task at the start where a tribe member had to cut through a rope with a long saw to release their coconuts. While Tuku easily surged into a first place finish, Gata and Lavo both faltered at different points throughout the challenge, such as Andy Rueda's struggles with the saw and Lavo being unable to knock their blocks off of the table. Ultimately, with both tribes finishing their puzzle at the exact same time, Lavo managed to beat Gata in a footrace to their mat, winning immunity by mere seconds.
Australia[]
The challenge appeared as the third Immunity Challenge of Titans v Rebels. The tribes had to first push a giant slingshot through an obstacle course before using it to launch coconuts at the puzzle setup. Even though a number of Rebels conspired to throw the challenge, a critical error on the Titans' part at the puzzle allowed the Rebels' puzzlemakers to catch up. Nonetheless, the Titans' Charles Noonan and Eden Porter were able to rectify the error in time to narrowly clinch their first Immunity Challenge win.
France[]
New Zealand[]
South Africa[]
The Going Coconuts format was used as the second tribal Immunity Challenge of Immunity Island. Vuna took the lead on the balance beams, but Carla Gubb and Anesu Mbizvo quickly fell into dysfunction on the block puzzle, allowing Dino Paulo and Qieän Wang to make a comeback for Zamba to win immunity.
