Dizzy Miss Lizzy (also known as Put a Ring on It) is a recurring Survivor challenge. It debuted in Island of the Idols before reappearing in Survivor 41, Survivor 42, Survivor 43 and Survivor 44.
Rules[]
Castaways must spin to unravel a coil of rope, then make their way across a series of obstacles to collect one puzzle piece. They must then use the puzzle piece to solve a word puzzle. The first person to solve their puzzle wins.
In Survivor 42, the word puzzle was changed to the block puzzle previously seen in Vertigo. Castaways retrieved a key from the balance beam instead of a puzzle piece.
In Survivor 43, the puzzle element was replaced with an accuracy element where castaways would have to throw and land a sandbag onto a circular platform that is located on top of a wood stud.
In Survivor 44, rather than unraveling a coil of rope, the castaways spun on a board to reel in a buoy. Also, the final task of the challenge was changed to the ball toss from Matt Finish.
History[]
The challenge debuted as the final seven Immunity Challenge of Island of the Idols. Most of the contestants were overcome by dizziness and struggled with the balance beam, allowing Dean Kowalski and Noura Salman to reach their puzzle first. However, despite expressing her dislike for word puzzles, Elaine Stott quickly caught up. In the end, it was Dean who first figured out the phrase "THIS GAME WILL MESS WITH YOUR MIND", thus winning his first Immunity Necklace, to Elaine's frustration.
In Survivor 41, the challenge appeared as the final six Immunity Challenge. Ricard Foyé held a marginal lead throughout the challenge, though the rest of his competitors caught up. The puzzle came down to a match between Ricard and Deshawn Radden, but it was Ricard, who had spent the challenge thinking about possible four-letter words, that first spelled "DON'T MAKE THIS NEXT VOTE YOUR LAST" to pull off a clutch immunity victory.
The challenge appeared as the final six Reward Challenge in Survivor 42. Maryanne Oketch struggled with her disorientation during the first portion of the challenge, but managed to catch up at the compass rose puzzle. However, it was Omar Zaheer that pieced together his compass rose first, earning his first individual win, which he chose to share with Maryanne, Mike Turner, and Romeo Escobar.
The challenge returned as the final eight Reward Challenge in Survivor 43. During the first portion of the challenge, Noelle Lambert struggled heavily on the balance beam, but she would come all the way back to win the challenge after the sandbag that she threw landed in the target zone. She chose to share her reward with Jesse Lopez, Owen Knight, and Sami Layadi.
The challenge reappeared in Survivor 44 as the final eight Reward Challenge. Danny Massa held the lead through most of the challenge, but at the ball toss, it was Frannie Marin who first landed both of her balls. She won an overnight trip to the Survivor sanctuary, which she shared with Lauren Harpe, Carolyn Wiger, and Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt.
